"Take a Knee" 
Sermon by Rev. Aaron McEmrys
When an American football coach calls his team to "take a knee" -- it's a heads up -- time to listen up. On Sunday, Rev. Aaron calls us to take a knee. It's time for us to focus -- pay attention and respond to the call from the Black Lives Matter movement. 

Photo: The Birmingham Pledge. Communities all over the country are coming together to sign pledges to demonstrate their commitment to eliminating racial prejudice. On Sunday, UUCA's pledge banner will be presented.

Congratulations to UUCA member Julian Adams, on his recent ordination by the Progressive Christian Alliance. Rev. Adams is a Chaplain with the Virginia National Guard.

Condolences to Fletcher Cox's wife Nancy and his family. He died at the age of 92, at Goodwin House on September 24.

We hold Jim Altman in our thoughts, following the death of Marilyn Altman, age 83, September 19, just shy of their 65th wedding anniversary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, at noon, at the UU Church of the North Hills, 2359 West Ingomar Rd., Pittsburgh, Pa.

Best wishes to Kelly McNulty, who is looking forward to her marriage on October 8, at the Lotus Temple in Fairfax, to Niraj Devkota, of Nepal.
