BiB Alumni News                                       4.6.16
Dear ,

I've been enjoying the network conversations on Facebook! There is so much good advice flowing in the group and so many good questions being asked. It makes me wish that we could share your knowledge with a broader community. But wait - we can! to friends or artist colleagues and they can subscribe, too.

Help create a broader reach for the featured artists and include a wider audience in our professional development circle by passing this newsletter along!

Kind regards,

New Critique Group for Artists Forming in Burlington

"A good critique group (crit group) can be one of the best tools an artist can have to help build a conceptually solid practice," according to GYST-Ink, an artist-run company providing professional resources to artists.

Why would one join a crit group? Because, aside from the being a fun way to build a community of artistic peers, a crit group can help you develop your critical thinking and public speaking abilities, as well as learn to refine the way you talk and think about your own work.

A new crit group is forming in the Burlington area, spearheaded by Kristen Watson, Breaking into Business participant and practicing Burlington artist.

Kristen Watson
"I hope that artists will come ready to share work, ask questions, and give (and receive) honest, thoughtful, constructive feedback," Kristen says. She envisions the group as a "flexible organism" with a standing meeting date that gives artists regular access to an audience of their peers that can provide support from many different perspectives. Kristen says members will be artists who are "actively working and sharing works in progress, recently completed works, or past works that relate to some new line of inquiry they are pursuing."

If you would like to participate in the initial meeting, contact Kristen Watson or show your availability in this Doodle Poll .

BiB Alumni Spotlight: Finnie Trimpi

There is a whole portfolio of creative activities that artists can use to create a viable artist business, according to Dee Bolye-Clapp. Artists create work, but they can also teach classes, offer services, and work on commission.

One artist who is embracing the full spectrum of creative activities in her business is Finnie Trimpi of Mad Hen Studio. Her paintings include portraits of families and pets, as well as Icon and landscape paintings. She also teaches art, and writes about it in her blog. Read more about what Finnie and her students are up to.
