CACRO
College Fair
The Carolina Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRO) College Fair
will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6 - 8:30 am - 1:00pm at the Charlotte Convention Center.
Juniors and Seniors who are interested in attending the fair need to see Mrs. Kindell TODAY Sept. 30.
There are only 35 slots available. First come, first served.

Campus Beautification
Please join the Campus Beautification committee on
October 15
from 8:30 to11:30 am
for our fall cleanup. We will meet in front of the Administration Building and then begin weeding, trimming, and planting. Given the size of our campus, we need parents and students. (Service hours will be awarded.)
Please bring work gloves and a bottle of water. If you would like to donate topsoil, manure, pansies or monkey grass, please contact Sara Holderness.

Myers Park Needs Votes
Myers Park DECA is pursuing a quest to educate students on financial wellness. They are hosting a workshop for students led by SECU, a JA Symposium, implementing a "Money Week" competition, and even traveling to Cotswold Elementary to educate younger students.
In order to win the grant we need as many votes as possible. Myers Park supporters may vote once every 12 hours. Please vote today and over-and-over by

Career Exploration
Training and Survey
Do you want to learn more about Naviance? During homeroom on October 19, all 9th grade students will be using Naviance to complete a career interest survey and explore career opportunities that match their interests, hobbies, and talents. Parent volunteers are needed to facilitate this computer-based activity. There are 30 freshmen homerooms and we need a volunteer for each one.
There will be training sessions offered next week to learn how to get into the survey on Naviance. Click here to sign up.

Study Abroad
CMS is offering two Study Abroad Information Sessions this year. The first session will take place Monday October 10 from 6-8pm at South Mecklenburg high school in the media center. The second session will be held later this year at North Mecklenburg high school and details are forthcoming.

MPIB Council is hosting Gray's Gang Spirit Night on Tuesday, October 4 from 4:30pm until 7:30pm at Chick-fil-A on East Woodlawn Road, across from the Park Road Shopping Center. The night benefits SMA research for a treatment and cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This year our theme is Mustang Pride! We are excited to cheer on the Mustang Football team in their undefeated season so far. Please join us for lots of school spirit, music, contests and a bake sale. We will also be selling Myers Park t-shirts. This is a great time to stock up on chick-fil-A gift certificates (great for birthdays, teacher and thank you gifts).

National Honor Society Applications
Are you a junior or senior with at least a 3.25 unweighted GPA? Do you value academics, service, leadership, and character? Consider joining the MPHS chapter of the National Honor Society!
Applications for our Fall 2016 induction are available as a Google form on our website under the Prospective Members Tab.
There will be an optional (but highly recommended) workshop on Monday, October 10 after school in Mrs. Martin's room (S-4). Applications will be due Monday, October 17 by 2:15 pm.

Yearbook Pictures Update
Seniors should have received an email from Prestige portraits saying they need to select their favorite portrait to be put in the yearbook, however it did not give a date as to when these pictures need to be selected by. The date, which was confirmed by Lifetouch is
Oct. 20
. If seniors have any questions regarding access codes or how to view their portraits, please call (704)628-4600

Underclassmen pictures taken the week of Sept. 13th will be distributed at school to your student when they come in.

MPHS Parent Handbook & Student Directories are now available for pick-up.
This resource has lots of information including school mission & vision, honor code, dress code, bell schedule and staff contacts. It also contains a directory of students. Copies are available now (one FREE per family) in the Front Office and at Student Services. We will also have copies available at select upcoming school events.
Remember to pick up your copy the next time you are at the school.

PreACT School Plan for Tues. Oct. 11
9th Grade:
Will be creating a practice account and taking a Practice SAT which will provide access to study tools for future exams.
10th Grade:
will be participating in a Mandatory PreACT during Homeroom at 7:15am. Missing this NC state administered test may result in 10th graders being pulled from class later in the month for retesting.
11th Grade:
Creating Naviance accounts to use for future college and career exploration.
12th Grade:
Will be given time to complete college essays for applications.

MPHS Women's Basketball Fundraiser
UNC Tar Heel Basketball Legend Lennie Rosenbluth to be honored
On
Oct. 12
, from 6-9pm we will celebrate Tar Heel basketball and honor Lennie, now 83, with a great Tar Heel party at Sugar Creek Brewing Company. Lennie will tell fascinating anecdotes about the team and coach that started it all! Food catered by Leroy Fox. UNC notables will be in attendance. Don't miss this once in the lifetime opportunity to meet and greet a true Tar Heel legend!

You Grin, You're In
Golf with Myers Park DECA
Myers Park DECA is partnering with Ace and TJ's Grin Kids to host the"Grin to Green" Golf Tournament on
October 18th at Raintree Golf Club. All profits benefit the local charity, created in 2000 by 96.1 morning show hosts Ace and TJ. Grin Kids strives to provide terminally ill and chronically disabled children a once in a lifetime vacation to Walt Disney World. During their 16 years, over 400 kids and their families have been taken by Grin Kids on this 5 day trip. This trip is dedicated to making the lives of these children and their families more fun and exciting while bringing them together to make memories that will last forever. MP DECA shows a passion for this cause and supports Grin Kids because we want to make a difference in the children's lives and help give them a memorable trip to Disney World. You can help this magical vacation happen by supporting the Grin to Green Golf Tournament! DECA is asking you to share this information with family or friends, register to play or sponsor a hole!
