Emergency Repair Program

MAAG, in conjunction with the Delta Human Resource Agency and the Shelby County Housing Department, are currently helping low income elderly homeowners through the Emergency Repair Program. This program, which is funded by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, provides grants to low income, elderly homeowners who are 60 years or older to correct, repair, or replace an essential system and/or a critical structural problem. The purpose of the program is to provide essential repairs to make the home livable.  To apply or for more information contact Paul Morris

Memphis Area Association of Governments and Tennessee Department of Tourist Development FY 2016-2017 Rural Tourism Marketing Co-op

Memphis Area Association of Governments (MAAG) is pleased to announce the Marketing Co-op grant for FY 2016-2017. This co-op funding is provided by a partnership between MAAG and the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development's Developmental Co-op Grant.
 
This co-op provides tourism attractions, events and festivals the opportunity to expand the impact of their marketing message, increase visitation and increase travel-generated revenue, while leveraging TDTD's brand and marketing effort/initiatives.

USDA Rural Development's Housing Preservation Grant (HPG)

The USDA Rural Development office in Nashville awarded MAAG a $45,000 grant through its Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) Program.   This grant program promotes homeowner repairs, and these funds will be used along with THDA weatherization funds from Delta HRA and THDA emergency repair from MAAG.  USDA Rural Development presented MAAG with the $45,000 grant award on September 21st at the home of Dorothy Cordle, in Brighton, TN.

Governor's Conference on Tourism and Hospitality

The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development (TDTD) hosted their annual Governor's Conference on Tourism and Hospitality in Chattanooga, TN,September 21- 23. Congratulations and appreciation  was expressed by both Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Kevin Triplett. Commissioner Triplett rocked the room with a musical mix to express the power of working together and highlighted the accomplishments of the Tennessee's tourism industry. Tennessee tourism industry saw another great year of record breaking growth. Tennessee tourism industry is the second largest industry in the state with an annual economic impact exceeding 18.4 billion dollars ,collecting $1.6 billion in state and local sales tax revenue and providing more than 157,400 jobs. It was a good year for #MadeinTN "Soundtrack of America".
