As we begin the new activity year, we inevitably run into holidays and holy days. We trust all our Muslim friends enjoyed an Eid al-Adha mubarak
and we wish all our Jewish friends well for the upcoming Yamim Noraim
. The new year is a time to take stock of our achievements and look introspectively at what we can do better in the coming months.
We promised to bring you a report of the highly successful tour of our Galilee Circus which traveled to St. Louis, MO, USA, in August to join their long-time partners, the St. Louis Arches. We are pleased to bring you a trip account by Talie Eisner Friedman, co-founder and co-editor for Hebrew content at Dugrinet, the only Hebrew-Arabic bilingual independent information source for the Galilee. Talie accompanied the children of the Galilee Circus (including her son) on their trip, and we are grateful to Talie and to Dugrinet for permission to publish a translation of her Hebrew article, which also appeared in A-La-Gush, the magazine of the Misgav communities.
Our emeritus executive director, Rabbi Dr Marc Rosenstein, will be making a speaking tour of the USA in February 2017. He still has capacity to include your synagogue or organization in this tour, but he must close his itinerary soon, so don't delay to find out more here.
As Rosh Hashana approaches we ask all our loyal donors to consider making us a donation to enable us to continue our vital work to bring people together in dialogue - whether verbal or through circus - and to form the friendships and connections on which a better future for all Israel's citizens can be built.
Talie Eisner Friedman writes about the Galilee Circus in St Louis
I sit excited in the crowd. The music is exciting, all around the circus ring. I have seen this show ten times already and yet I am not giving up my good seat, and the hope of another photo. Well after all ... my son is preforming!
Our core mission is driven by a unique set of informal education methods that help create a Galilee that is a model for pluralistic, embracing and shared society. Our activities wrestle with and bridge major rifts in Israeli society by bringing people together who wouldn't meet otherwise.
