pdPD Receives Two Awards from CA Highway Patrol
Congratulations and thank you!

Congratulations to the Burlingame Police Department and specifically, Sergeant Jim Ford, Corporal Michael Martyn and Officer Garrett Pene who were awarded two awards from the California Highway Patrol during Monday's City Council meeting.

The Burlingame Police Department received a 2nd place award for its efforts in traffic safety under the California Law Enforcement Challenge.  In addition, the Department received a Special Award for its efforts in speed awareness.

The California Law Enforcement Challenge is modeled after the International Association of Chiefs of Police National Law Enforcement Challenge.  In this competition among similarly sized law enforcement agencies, police departments throughout California compete for recognition of their traffic safety programs.  The competition focuses on an agency's efforts in occupant protection, impaired driving, and speed awareness, as well as a traffic safety issues unique to the agency.

Congratulations to our Police Department and the Traffic Division for their efforts in traffic safety, and congratulations to all Burlingame Officers who participated in our county S.T.E.P. deployments and DUI saturation patrols and checkpoints. Your efforts make a difference in our community by saving lives and reducing injuries and fatal collisions.

Coastal Cleanup Day a big success!

This past Saturday, September 17, 2016, the City of Burlingame held a cleanup event as part the State's largest annual volunteer event - Coastal Cleanup Day .   Over 200 volunteers of all ages came together to clean approximately a 6,000 foot-long area of the Bayfront along the Bay Trail.  An estimated 468 gallons of trash and 128 gallons of trash were collected in less than three hours!  The City would like to thank all of the volunteers who participated in the event and helped make it happen, as well as our sponsors Veolia North America and CloudCompli that provided snacks and water for our volunteers.

Please put next year's cleanup on your calendar (September 16, 2017), and plan to join us!  Visit the County's blog for information and photos from Countywide cleanups, and to find out more about stormwater pollution prevention and how to protect our Bay on a daily basis, visit the Burlingame Stormwater management page on our website by clicking here.
