A House United to Tackle Pediatric Cancer™
will raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research with support from college football fans across the United States. All of the money raised will fund pediatric cancer research and will be determined jointly by Curing Kids Cancer and the American Cancer Society.
"By supporting this campaign, college football teams and coaches are helping Curing Kids Cancer and the American Cancer Society to fund the development of life saving treatments for childhood cancers," said Grainne Owen, founder of Curing Kids Cancer. "As a mother who lost her child to cancer seeing these partnerships become a reality and knowing what they can help us achieve, means more than anyone can possibly imagine."
For the past four years Curing Kids Cancer has partnered with college football programs across the southeast including the University of Alabama, University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee. The continued success of the program encouraged the American Cancer Society to join Curing Kids Cancer in focusing on pediatric cancer during the month of September.
Curing Kids Cancer is the first pediatric cancer charity to team up with the American Cancer Society. Together, both organizations will award the funds generated to hospitals across the United States.
"The Society is proud to partner with Curing Kids Cancer to expand our sports strategy to mobilize a new audience within college football to help save the lives of children with cancer," said Sharon Byers, Chief Development Officer, American Cancer Society.

has unlimited potential to achieve our goal of saving children's lives.
The campaign will move in to full effect during the 2017 football season. Curing Kids Cancer and the American Cancer Society are excited to have the support of college football fans in the battle against childhood cancer.

On Oct. 4, Curing Kids Cancer will present Palmetto Health Children's Hospital with a check for $50,000. This check will be added to the $1.2 million endowment.
The Curing Kids Cancer Endowment was established at Palmetto Health Foundation to support clinical trials efforts at the Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital. Endowment funds will support the complex process of helping families navigate the clinical trials process, enrolling childhood cancer patients in clinical studies and ensuring patient data is accurately collected.
"We are exceedingly grateful for the generous gift from Curing Kids Cancer, an organization comprised of individuals who are working tirelessly to put an end to childhood cancer, said Dr. Ron Neuberg. "This endowment will enable more children to be placed on studies that will someday bring that goal to fruition."
Dr. Ron Neuberg is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital. He has practiced for more than 20 years. Thank you, Dr. Ron for continuing to support Curing Kids Cancer.

Meet Mary Catherine Buyck

Mary Catherine seems like your typical 10-year-old. She likes to dance, make video star videos and she even has a job. But she is not your typical 10-year-old. She has been battling a brain tumor since she was a year old.
Before National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Mary Catherine went to her mom about an idea to paint their hometown of Manning, SC gold. By doing this. she would give away gold ribbons for a donation.
Mary Catherine's mother Caroline came to Curing Kids Cancer to see if this fundraiser would be something the organization
was interested in. During the month of September, Mary Catherine and friends painted their town gold. The end result was incredible and more than what anyone imagined. It was a donation of $3,705.
When asked why she decided to do this, Mary Catherine simply responded with "Because there is no cure." This simple answer holds a very real truth, there is no cure but we are getting closer. Treatments like CAR-T Cell therapy conti
nue to show great promise for those battling cancer.

Clear Scans for Owen!
The highs and lows of one boy's battle with osteosarcoma.
Remember Owen? He was featured on Curing Kids Cancer this year throwing out the first pitch at the
Atlanta Braves
game. He was again recognized by the Atlanta Braves and Curing Kids Cancer as a Diamond of Courage award winner.
On Sept. 28 another moment of courage was needed. He returned back to Palmetto Health Children's Hospital for his 3 month check-up. This appointment to make sure his scans were still clear. Owen must continue to go to these appointments every 3 months for the first 2 years after being cancer free. These appointments continue to be extremely nerve racking for families because cancer has the ability to return.
Owen has been in a 3-year long battle with osteosarcoma. But the great news is that his scans are still clear! Owen has yet to make it a full year without his cancer returning but this check-up is a great start. Congratulations Owen and the Plasman family on the fantastic news.

Palmetto Health Children's Cancer Center Check Signing
On Oct. 4, the Owen family will present a check to Palmetto Health Children's Hospital on behalf of Curing Kids Cancer. This $50,000 check is the beginning to a $1.2 million endowment to name Palmetto Health Children's Cancer Center to Gamecocks Curing Kids Cancer Center. This endowment will
provide the children treated in SC the best opportunities by funding the most cutting edge and innovative research.
