Tufts University Visits TCR

Tufts University Class Visit to TCR, July 2016
"Something that I remember so poignantly about The Children's Room space was not only being included and feeling a part of the space, but just the feelings of welcome and acceptance and openness created not only by the space itself but by the people within it."

Therapeutic Space
at The Children's Room
|
What makes a space therapeutic? How do we create a safe space? Is it the lighting, the colors, the furniture placement, the art on the walls, or is it what we bring to the space? Have you ever wondered why you "feel" more comfortable in certain environments?
"I love architecture, and my wife is a specialist in clearing the energy of spaces. So between the two of us, we tune in, feel space, and talk about it a lot. So i have been delighted, in the many times I have visited, and worked in, the Children's Room spaces, to feel how vibrant, clear, and bright the energy feels in the rooms. Not the decor - but the feeling of the space. Many of us imagine grief being heavy and dark. Yet my experience of the spaces at the Children's Room is the opposite - clear, light, and open. It speaks volume to the healing that takes place in these rooms, and the care and consciousness that the staff bring to what they do."
~ Jay W. Voyt, Founder, Peoplesworth Way
"Creating a warm, inviting, grounded space begins with a trust of the space itself...
a "felt sense" for the energy in the space..."Therapeutic Space Planning" is based on valuing and respecting the environment, being aware of the purpose of the space, and then with intention, supporting it to it's full potential...in turn the space reflects back the feeling of purpose, care and relationship it offers to those of us using and experiencing it." ~
