Author Talk: Kristen Harnisch, The California Wife
Thursday, October 13 @7pm 
Internationally published author Kristen Harnisch visits Wilton Library to discuss her newest novel, The California Wife. In this sweeping, poignant sequel (which also works as a stand-alone) to The Vintner's Daughter, the Lemieux family's ambition to establish an American winemaking dynasty takes Sara and Philippe from pastoral Napa to the Paris World's Fair and into the colorful heart of early 20th-century San Francisco. National Cartoonists Society Connecticut Chapter Art Exhibition/Reception
Friday, October 14 @6pm 
National Cartoonists Society Connecticut Chapter members display original cartoons created for newspapers, greeting cards, licensing, children's books, magazines and other media. Noted cartoonists include Chance Browne of Wilton; the family dynasty of Mort,  Brian (of Wilton) and  Greg Walker; Mary Anne Case of New Canaan; Jerry Dumas of Greenwich; Bob Englehart of Middletown; the late Dick Hodgins of Wilton; Bill Janocha of Stamford; Sean Kelly of Fairfield; Maria Scrivan of Stamford; and Rick Stromoski of Suffield. Exhibition runs through November 11. More info
AARP Driver Safety Class
Saturday, October 15 @10am 
This single session, four-hour course is the nation's first and largest classroom driver safety course designed especially for drivers age 50+. There are no written or driving tests - classroom only. More info & register
Author Talk: Tom Rinaldi, The Red Bandanna
Sunday, October 16 @4pm 
The Red Bandanna is an uplifting account coming out of one of America's darkest times.The story is about Welles Crowther, his red bandanna given to him as a boy by his father, and the falling of the Twin Towers --  a true story about "a fearless choice, a crucible of terror and the indomitable spirit to answer it." Tom Rinaldi has been a national correspondent at ESPN since 2002. Among other honors, he has won 15 national Sports Emmy Awards and six national Edward R. Murrow Awards. More info & register
Innovation Day
Saturday, October 22 @10am to 2pm
Discover, Dabble, Do-It-Yourself at Wilton Library's 2nd Innovation Day! Join us for a festival of making, creating and demonstrating for all ages. Solder a blinkie pin; knit and purl; learn how to make wine, do basic home repairs or tie flies; test out a 3-D Doodler, virtual reality glasses, snap circuits or Makey Makey; create a small terrarium; take apart an old monitor; watch a portrait painter; attend a 3-D Design workshop; color; try origami; make cards; light up an apron with LEDs  and more! Then grab a snack from one of the food trucks parked outside. The day is free! Certain activities will have a nominal fee to offset costs. More info
