M'KOR MAIL
September 29, 2016
A man is lost in the forest. He has been wandering many days and nights and cannot find his way. Finally he meets another man, and says to him, "My friend, I am lost. I have been trying to find the way for many days and nights, but I cannot. Can you show me the way?"

The other man answers, "I, too, am lost. Yet I can tell you which ways I have already tried that do not lead anywhere. And we can search for a better way together."
[Rabbi Hayim of Zenze]

As one year comes to a close and another is about to begin, we use these final days of 5776 to look back on what we have accomplished and to reflect on how we have grown over the past year. We take a
cheshbon ha'nefesh, an accounting of the soul, seeing ourselves for who we are and recognizing the areas of our lives and of our relationships that still need attention and work. We give thanks for the moments of happiness we have experienced, and for the opportunities we've been given to share blessings with others. And we are reminded of the many ways in which our lives have been enriched by what others have generously shared with us.

Friday evening, Cantor Hochman and I will lead our Kabbalat Shabbat service in the Chapel beginning at 6:30 pm.

And, Shabbat morning, our Spice Up Your Judaism session will be led by congregant Scott Kushner on the topic of "Personal Judaism," beginning at 10:00 am.

Torah Study will resume next week as part of our Shabbat Shuvah Shabbaton (October 8).

And, of course, our High Holy Day services begin Sunday night, with our Erev Rosh Hashanah service at 8:00 pm. Please check your tickets for the times of our other services and High Holy Day programming throughout the next two weeks.

On behalf of the Clergy, Staff and Leadership of Congregation M'kor Shalom, I want to wish you and your families a very happy, healthy and sweet New Year.

We look forward to seeing you over these holy days as we celebrate the beginning of 5777 together as a Family of Families
.

Shanah Tovah,

Rabbi Jennifer L. Frenkel
