Autumn has always been my favorite season. I love the brilliant leaves, the cooler temperatures, and making potato-leek soup. Fall is all the more beautiful because it is so fleeting.

When I worked at Old World Wisconsin, autumn brought the end of the often-hectic open season.  The pace slowed once children returned to school.

There were quiet moments to be savored at the historic buildings and farms. The air smelled of wood smoke. And geese and cranes could be heard calling overhead as they began their long journeys south.

Now the autumn brings something else: the annual arrival of a new book in my Chloe Ellefson mystery series.

The title of my twentieth American Girl book is (drum roll):

Gunpowder and Tea Cakes

Intrigued? I can't say much more yet, but it can  be pre-ordered now as a paperback from independent booksellers and from AmazonBarnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and others. Their websites say the book will be released in February.

Something to look forward to!  I'll keep you posted.

Another thing I love about fall is the joy of meeting and talking with readers at bookstore signings and library programs.

The official Chloe 7 Launch Party is Tuesday, Oct. 4th, 7-8 PM, at  Mystery to Me  in Madison, WI. I'll also be signing the new book  at Old World Wisconsin , where much of the action is set, Saturday, Oct. 15th, noon to 5 PM. Both events are free.

And there are events in Milwaukee, Kiel, and Watertown, WI.

If you'd like to attend an event in person, but geography or prior commitments makes that impossible, you can hear me discuss the new book on the radio or streaming online.

I'll be a guest on Larry's popular statewide show on Tuesday, Oct. 11th, from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM

Details about all the different ways you can listen in, either live or afterwards, can be found by clicking HERE.

I've also been invited by Milwaukee Public Radio to be on their popular Lake Effect show in November (date and time TBA).

A complete list of fall events can be found on my Calendar.

  In Gratitude

I wish you mugs of hot cider, crisp and sunny afternoons, and the time to read good books!

Warm regards,
