Thank you so much for being part of '12 Prayers' this year. We trust that as we join in praying for Kingdom ministry around the world, we will all be helped to keep our eyes on the reason for Christmas - to remember the coming of the Messiah, the hope for the nations!
A safe place for India's Street Kids
Gypsy children with a captured monkey.jpg
Millions of children live with no safe place to call home.

There are over 8 million homeless children in India. Many are vulnerable to disease, crime, slavery and trafficking. A sad few find any kind of safe refuge. Those who do find safety often find themselves cared for within Church-based orphanages. The Bible Society in India is working in partnership with as many orphanages as they can to support their efforts to provide a safe place for orphaned or abandoned children. Since most of these orphanages depend upon external donations, this kind of partnership is vital.
T he Bible Society of India is able to offer a little support to some of these orphanages by supplying Bibles, children's books and a few practical items such as blankets, notebooks, school bags and shoes.
Dr Varghese of the Bible Society shared that 'Over the years, thousands of young lives have been impacted through the Scripture distribution ministry. During the last two years alone, nearly 12,000 children have committed their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.'
The team are finalising plans for the next three years, 'We're very excited about the potential of this project!' says Dr Varghese. 'We believe that it could engage about 250,000 children with Scriptures and see about 60,000 children committing their lives to Jesus Christ.'
Praying for Ministry to India's Street Kids

We believe God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine, so please pray for a great multiplying of salvation among these children, that they might grow in faith and knowledge that they are children of God, adopted into His family.

Pray for  the people who are running Christian orphanages, may they have hearts filled with compassion and hope for the children in their care .

Pray too  that God will allow more children to find safety, away from the crime and danger on the streets. May God restore their hope and give them futures, secure as sons and daughters of God.

Ask God to intervene in Indian society, stepping into families and shattering the destructive patterns that repeatedly leave children with no-one to care for them.

Hope in 'Bethlehem'
Eunice with girls.jpg The Bethlehem Girls Home is a safe place for 11 girls who came at very young ages from very difficult backgrounds. It is supported by The Bible Society of India.

Eunice Kumar from the Good News Centre (known as 'Mummy' to the girls) is pictured above with some of the children she cares for. She says "God has restored and delivered the girls and they are doing well in their studies. One girl came when she was just 6 years old. Her father was killed and her mother raped by her relatives. She would not speak, as she had seen what had happened. She was very depressed, not wanting to study or do anything but after much counselling and prayer she began going to school and started doing well. Last year she finished her school with 83%. She started leading kids club, interpreting in the church from English to Hindi. She is very good at the guitar and music and led worship at the church. She now has a scholarship at Dallas University studying Law and Theology. She is very passionate about the Kingdom of God."

Praise God for the girls in the Bethlehem home. Pray for many more places of safety where children are shown love and introduced to Jesus.
