Principal's Message
Parents,
Next week our fifth graders go off to Camp Loma Mar to experience Outdoor Education. Thank you to San Francisco Creamery and all who attended our fundraiser to help support this wonderful program. A reminder is going home today for Monday's departure. Please make sure you label EVERYTHING and have your child here ready to go at 8:30. I will be going up for my visit on Tuesday and will report back after I spend a day hiking and enjoying the tidepools!
Congratulations to all Murwood Students and families! Today we have only TWO absences and NO TARDIES!!! When we work together, we maximize your child's learning by having them in place for every moment of important classroom instruction. That means your child is present for engaging number talks, literature discussions, exciting STEM labs and plenty of physical movement. On time attendance is our goal!
International Walk to School Day is October 5, 2016!
Please join your classmates in safe walking or riding to school!
Thank you,
Carol Nenni

From the Office
We have been focusing on parking lot safety the last few weeks, but we also have a lot of students who come and go through the back of our school. If you are dropping your child off (or picking them up) by the back gate, please be extra mindful of other children walking along that path. It's been reported that cars are double & triple parked in that area, which makes it very hard to notice little ones as you back up to turn your car around. Please do your best to watch for children in both the front and the back of our school. We appreciate your help in keeping our students safe!

From the PTA President
It was great to see so many of you at the Welcome Back Picnic! As always, DJ Dave entertained us with his tunes and his vintage car! The kids loved getting to climb in and explore it! Thank you to Rose Stein, Shelden Hyde, Andrea Slavet, and Doretta Kennedy for all of your help on Friday in making the picnic a success.
We are still in need of a WCEF Rep for our school. The WCEF Rep attends the WCEF meetings on the 4th Thursday of the month and our general PTA meeting to provide us with an update. Its a great way to get connected and find out more about collaborative fundraising and the direction its going. If you are interested, please contact me at
[email protected].
Once again, thank you to all who came out to the picnic!

Reflections
It is Reflections Art Program time again! Reflections is a national PTA program to promote and support the Arts in schools. The program was quite successful at our school in past years, including several who made it to the state level! Important things to note:
- This year's theme is What Is Your Story?
- The six categories are Visual Arts, Photography, Literature (writing), Dance Choreography, Film Production, and Music Composition.
- Entries are due Oct 17.
There is a Reflection box in the office with all the official rules and the entry form, or you can go to http://capta.org/programs-events/reflections/?. Once your child has completed their project, they can turn it in to this same box in the office. All entries must be turned in by Oct 17.
This year we are holding two workshops for students to work on art projects. There will be a workshop for TK-2 on September 29. On October 6 there will be a workshop for grades 3-5. Both workshops will be held in room 24 (the art room) from 2:35-3:30. If your child would like to attend, please email [email protected] to request a spot. Workshops are limited to 12 students each. Parent MUST fill out the PTA permission slip in order to attend. Art supplies will be provided at the workshops.
Please contact Stacy Cerruti at [email protected] if you have any questions.
