Dear friends of Child Foundation

I am happy to report that this year we had our most successful "Back to School" drive. Our colleagues in Tehran were able, with your donations, to prepare almost 2,000 backpacks full of fresh school supplies.  Thanks to two of our staff who traveled home and took some donated T-shirts; backpacks of some lucky children included some nice Adidas T-shirts that were donated to our Portland office .

My sincere thanks to kind donors from around the world, volunteers, and our colleagues who made this possible and a special shout out to more than 8,000 children we support who motivate us by working harder in school and against all economic and social hardship their families face but still strive to success to make this world a better place to live in. No need to remind you that you still can help with our Backpacks of Hope to encourage more students to do the same .

As we are entering fall, we should not forget winter will follow soon. We have many exciting programs for Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday and holidays that we will share with you in coming weeks. But meanwhile, I want to ask you to have children in mind when you are planning a large gathering for Thanksgiving, Yalda or Christmas. These will be wonderful times to share your experience with Child Foundation with your family, friends and colleagues. If you need information, pamphlets and even balloons, just drop us a note and we send them to you.

I wish you all the best and looking forward to work with you soon.

Exhibition .of Pediatric Patients ' Paintings in Seyhoun

The second International Festival of Pediatric Patients' Paintings will be held in October. More than 1300 children and adolescents, age of less than 18 years old, who were admitted in a hospital have participated by submitting artworks from over 30 countries. The reviewing committee nominated 32 paintings among them, 12 would be awarded in Budapest, Hungary later in October.

Simultaneously, exhibitions are held in 35 cities in 23 countries such as Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Greece, Germany, Hungary, India, Iran, Romania, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey,....and the United States.

Child Foundation has been collaborating with the Health and Art (HEART) group in combining the efforts of medical doctors and artists in order to help sick children in their time of need. Encouraging children to make art can show them that, though bad things happen, there is always hope and beauty in the world.

The U.S. exhibition will be in Seyhoun Art Gallery which is located at 9007 Melrose Ave West Hollywood, CA. If you are in the area, please make sure to attend this wonderful event, enjoy some Persian music and food, and admire how children in hospital beds from around the world see our universe could be a better place to live .

Many thanks to Maryam Seyhoun and our volunteers to put this exhibition together.
Bone Marrow Transplant in Amol

As mentioned in our last e-newsletter, our Afghanistan office manager, Mrs. Karimi had taken four children who suffer from Thalassemia to Amol for a bone marrow transplant. It took them four long days of driving with a minibus to get there and now they are settled in a house offered by a kind couple. The first series of tests had been done and based on result and availability of doctor's time, they will receive their bone marrow transplant.

We hope and pray that the result will be successful. Please donate to our medical fund to help these four children as well as other medical cases that are short of funding.
