No, not basketball. It's the Women's National Book Association. The subject will be: "I'm published, so now what?" featuring:
Renee Roberson, Alice Osborn, Karen Luddy, and Mica Gadhia (who paints pink and purple cows).

December 4 - 6, CWC-North will participate in "Christmas at Davidson" in cooperation with Main Street Books in Davidson.

Holidays always cause chaos, so here's a preview of what's happening next month. 
On December 15, the guest speaker will be Phillip Shabazz, a poet, author, teacher and artist. His works include XYZoom, poems concerning personal reflections on 9/11, and When The Grass Was Blue, an historical novel for young readers.

Flash Fiction Contest
Ruth Moose Flash Fiction Workshop
Ruth Moose will conduct a workshop on writing flash fiction at Providence Presbyterian Church in Charlotte from noon to five p.m. on December 12. Sponsored by WritersWorkshop of Asheville. $75 or  $70 for members. Contact Writersw@gmail.com or phone 828-254-8111.
Participants will write to prompts and published examples of very short works. Prizes will be awarded at the November general meeting on Nov. 17.

Ruth has published 3 collections of short stories, 6 collections of poetry, and most recently her first novel.

Tony Abbot has received the North Carolina Award, the highest civilian award given by the state. He is a teacher, scholar, and poet who has inspired students for over fifty years. Read about him at  http://www.ncdcr.gov/about/special-programs/nc-awards

Ruth Moose's first novel, Doing it at the Dixie Dew, won the Malice Domestic Award and was published by St. Martin's Press. A sequel, Wedding Bell Blues, is due out August 2016. Ruth was formerly on the Creative Writing faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill.
