December Program: Phillip Shabazz

On December 15, the guest speaker will be Phillip Shabazz, a poet, author, teacher and artist. His works include XYZoom, poems concerning personal reflections on 9/11, and When The Grass Was Blue, an historical novel for young readers.
 
 

 

Additionally, at the December meeting, the winners of the Ruth Moose Flash Fiction contest will be announced.

December 3 - 5, CWC-North will participate in "Christmas at Davidson" in cooperation with Main Street Books in Davidson.

At our annual showcase reading of Charlotte Writers' Club members, selected  members will have an opportunity to regale us with their literary talent, reading from their best work. This is always an exciting time when CWC members young and old get to "strut their stuff" before their colleagues. Find out what your fellow Charlotte writers are creating and show your support.

Kathie Collins's poem "El Camino" was awarded third prize in Kakalak 2015, published by Main Street Rag.
  
Lawrence Hippler's short story 
Blue Lager  wins first prize in the 2015 Central Indiana Writer competition.
  
Patricia Hooper's new poetry collection, SEPARATE FLIGHTS, has been awarded the Anita Claire Sharf Award and will be published in 2016 by the University of Tampa Press.  She has poems in the fall issue of The Yale Review and The Hudson Review.
  
Gilda Morina Syverson's memoir "My Father's Daughter: From Rome to Sicily" is a nominee for the Ragan Old North State Award for Nonfiction for 2015.
