Stay up to date!
Sabbatical a Time to Hit the Reset Button. . .
My heart was filled yesterday when I had the chance to see many of you on my first Sunday back.  Hope to see those of you who were not in worship soon.  Again, I want to thank the congregation for the privilege afforded me July-September for family time, rest, spiritual renewal, and study.  I know that few people get this kind of opportunity to change their regular routine and take time to be with and ask God what the focus of our lives should be.  This time to reset has been wonderful for me and I look forward to serving with you here at Slash in the months and years to come!
Thank you to Rev. Landa Simmons for sharing your gifts and talents shared during these past three months.  Thanks to the Elders for their care of all of you and their leadership of worship.  Thanks to Polly Vaughn for helping with the eknee ministry in my absence.  Our moderator Cathy Tillman, Thank you for all the extra work you did in my absence.  Thanks to Michael Peterman our worship leader for taking care of all those Sunday morning details along with Roger and Betty Sue as well as Ed Baugher for making sure the buildings were ready for Sunday. Rev. Don Richardson, thank you for all you did while I was gone. And most of all . . . thanks to our Church Administrator Kathleen Prettyman for keeping us all straight during sabbatical but also all the rest of the time.

From the Message on Sunday
This is the world that we have created for ourselves.  Why can't we get along? As hard as it is to believe, God created us to live harmonious lives. With all the examples in our current environment that indicate war and disagreement, strife in our homes and our families, it is hard to believe that if God meant for us to live in harmony with each other, that God did not give us better people to work with. Instead, it seems that we are called to be in relationship with the most difficult, cantankerous, self-centered and hard-headed people on the planet. Why is that?
I believe Jesus was speaking to us today in the verses from the Sermon on the Mount.  Let's hear our scripture says . . .

  En Agape',
