Hello everyone!
I hope that you have had a wonderful summer. The SLA Board, staff, and committee volunteers have been working hard on several projects. One of which is that key members of our 2017 conference planning committee have been drafting a guidelines document. It looks fantastic and it will be beneficial to many future Conference Planning Committees (CPC).
Your association Executive (President, both Vice-Presidents, Treasurer, and Executive Director) have been meeting over the summer and discussing high level agenda items. Many will be brought forward to Board of Director meetings in the coming year for further discussion and decisions. The Board retreat is scheduled for August 28th to 29th at St. Peter's College near Muenster, SK. It's a wonderful place for new and continuing Board members to strategize about in SLA's strategic plan. This, in turn, will guide the work of the committees. We've got a great agenda I'm really looking forward to it and to socializing with everyone.

Prince Albert Parkland Health Region Library
Name of Library: The PAPHR Library opened in 2007, five years after the PAPHR was established. It is utilized by all clinicians and staff within the PAPHR.
Library milestones: When I came on board the PAPHR Library was not automated. Not to discredit my colleagues, they did use free library social cataloguing and social bookmarking web services such as Library Thing and Delicious. Today, the PAPHR Library collection is shared locally through LibGuides and requires no technical knowledge to set up! I credit my colleague Susan Baer for her help, support and expertise.
Building/renovation history: The PAPHR Library is located within the Herb Bassett Wing of the Victoria Hospital but has not always been in its present location. The Library is easily accessible to the clinicians and staff. It is within easy access for the Residents and JURSIs enrolled in the Rural Medicine Program offered through the University of Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Program (SHIRP), through the University of Saskatchewan's Library, provides
access to a comprehensive suite of online health information resources for all clinicians in Saskatchewan. In addition, t
he clinicians and staff, the Residents and JURSIs have ready access to the print resources housed in the PAPHR Library's collection too.

Everyone, Including Culture, Wins When You Buy Lottery Tickets
The core funding that SLA receives through SaskCulture is part of the Lottery Trust where a percentage of every lottery ticket sold goes to support sport, culture and recreation groups within Saskatchewan. It appears that recent lottery sales are not meeting expectations, which will not have an immediate effect on SLA. However we encourage you to remind audiences and arts council members that buying lottery tickets benefits the entire community. Saskatchewan Lotteries has also launched an app that you can download in the App Store or Google Play. More information is available on the Saskatchewan Lotteries website.
