Sale of Park Land Election
To Allow for Retail, Restaurant and
Hotel Development on Land
The City of Grand Prairie is proposing the sale of three tracts of land totali ng nearly 24 acres, located at State Highway 161 between Arkansas Lane and Warrior Trail.  The sale of these land tracts would allow retail, restaurant and hotel development at this location. Commercial developers will not build on land that they do not own.  Therefore, the city is proposing sale of the property so that it can be developed.

Why do we have to have an election for this?
Since the land for desired sale is city-owned park property, the law states that City of Grand Prairie voters must vote for or against the sale of the land before it can be sold.

What you will see on the ballot:
Proposition Number 1
Shall the City Council of the City of Grand Prairie be authorized to sell approximately 24 acres of land within Central Park located at the northwest corner of State Highway 161 and Warrior Trail?

What happens if the proposition fails?
The land will not be sold. Retail, restaurant and hotel development is not likely to occur, and the property will continue to be held for future park development.
