October 2016

Santa Fe TTN is organized and led entirely by volunteers.

Co-C oordinators' Corner

Rachel Greenstein & Sue Burgess
In September, we enjoyed new event venues: Sweet Lily for coffee, tea and pastries including gluten free, and The Burger Stand at Burro Alley for Happy Hour. Great food and beers on tap combined with a relaxing atmosphere assured that we'll go back. All this was followed by the Women in Transition Workshop led by Jean Palmer (see article below).

At our September program: Dr. Suzanne Schmidt, President of the Santa Fe County League of Women Voters, gave us a fascinating presentation on the history and importance of voting in the United States, including the formation of the League of Women Voters and passage of the 19th Amendment, why we vote on a particular Tuesday in November, barriers to voting and voter roll purging as well as practical matters like the

WOMEN IN TRANSITION WORKSHOP:
Finding Insights & New Directions!

Fifteen women - TTN members as well as guests - spent four hours on Saturday, September 24th gaining a deeper understanding of how to deal with the transitions that are a part of everyone's life. Under the leadership of Jean Palmer, one of the originators of TTN's signature Women in Transition Workshop, each person zeroed in on her own specific current transition, determining at what stage of change she finds herself. After exploring possibilities in both large and small groups, each attendee developed her own "action plan" and left with a  better sense of the direction her life can take. One attendee commented: For a "doubting Thomas," I got so much more from the workshop than I expected. Those who participated seemed to agree!

Interested in being in a Transition Peer Group?  Want more information?

Do you want to feel more connected?  Have you wanted to have closer and deeper friendships with women at this stage in your life? Consider joining a Transition Peer Group.

There will be an information session on October 19
to find out more about what a Transition Peer Group is.

Here are statements from women who are currently in a Transition Peer Group
"Our group has been getting together for nearly a year. I'm not married or in a relationship. The group not only introduced me to some very interesting people, but it's a safe place to talk about important things (or not-so-important), that I certainly would not otherwise have. I hope we will continue for a long time to come."

"Our TTN peer group has been a wonderful support to me in getting settled in Santa Fe. I get to meet with friendly, interesting, fun women every two weeks - I look forward to our meetings, and always learn so much - everything from practical local information to soul-searching philosophical discussions. Thanks, TTN!"

Please contact [email protected] by October 13 to let her know if you will attend. We need to have at least 12 people in attendance that evening to hold the session. By coming to learn more, you are not obligated to sign up to be in a group.
