District Administrator's Message

The school year is in full swing, and while our focus is on academics, The School District of New London reinforces the basic building blocks of character through the Bulldogs of Character initiative which recognizes nine character pillars throughout the year to include: self-discipline, caring, cooperation, respect, responsibility, diversity, fairness, trustworthiness, and citizenship.

Character education is not new, but it is as important as ever. As a result of a deliberate character education program, our students and staff have common vocabulary and a consistent standard of behavior that they can expect from one another; which provides the foundation for safe schools.

We recognize that one of the keys to academic success is that people, young or old, feel safe in the environment where they work. Just like in our own work and personal lives, these skills - character traits - contribute to, or detract from, feelings of safety and productivity. Schools are places where students work, and we are committed to keeping a safe and healthy workplace for all involved.

We are proud to cite instances where our students have served as true Bulldogs of Character in the classroom and community. This week you will see positive messages brightly displayed on sidewalks throughout our communities. School District of New London students will spread messages of inspiration as they participate in the national Kindness in Chalk campaign.  The goal is to cover sidewalks with messages and images of hope and acceptance with the intention of bringing smiles to the faces of those who may need it most. Please contact Bill Storck at: wstorck@newlondon.k12.wi.us or 920-982-8420 if you would like students to stop by and create a chalk message on your sidewalk.

The vision of Bulldogs of Character has always been to maintain visibility at school, at home, at work, and in the community. You  are invited to join committees such as Bulldogs of Character in the Community or the Parent and Community Council. These groups meet quarterly to discuss initiatives that impact our schools and communities. If you would like to be a part of either committee please stop by or send me a note at kgwidt@newlondon.k12.wi.us . Your input is very important to us, and it has the potential to make a positive difference as we work to ensure Success for All Students

Go Bulldogs!
