First Friday Garden Walk at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park

J oin us for this ranger led walk where you will learn about the history of our park while exploring the beauty of the formal gardens.  The walk is approximately 1 hour.  Please bring water and 
 wear comfortable walking shoes! 

Meet in the Garden parking lot.

At 11 am, a presentation highlighting "Culinary & Medicinal Uses of Herbs" will be held by Dora Baker, owner of Maggie's Herb Farm. 
  
"Herbs in the Kitchen" by Ruth Micieli follows at 12 pm. Preparing a three-course meal, she will demonstrate ways herbs can be included in our daily recipe choices. Tastings and recipes will be provided. 
    
A Garden Tour, led by one of the Park Rangers, will begin at 1 pm. This is a great opportunity to learn about the uniqueness of the Gardens and the history of the Park.  
 
Visitors will find Florida friendly plants among the selections on the plant benches. Herbs and Herb-themed baked goods will be on sale!

Yoga in the Gardens
 
Mondays in October, 9-10:30

  3rd, 10th, 17th  and 24th)  
     
 
Join us for this all-level, gentle yoga class incorporating meditation, breathing exercises, and gentle movement.  

Instructor Jillian Davis, E-RYT 200 LMT, has been teaching classes for 10 years.  Practicing yoga outside in the peaceful setting of Washington Oaks allows a connection to nature while discovering what yoga can do for you.

Join a Ranger for a walk through Old Florida and discover the beauty of Faver-Dykes State Park.  Visitors meet at the Ranger Station.  Please bring water and bug spray, and wear comfortable walking shoes.  Hike included with park entry.
