WDMA Releases 2016 Architectural Door U.S. Market Study
Architectural door shipments down 3% in 2015

[Chicago] The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) has released the WDMA 2016 Architectural Door U.S. Market Study. This report provides data and insights needed to understand the industry's performance, key trends, and future direction. The report is based on extensive industry input for product shipments in 2015 and was prepared, researched and analyzed by Metrostudy, a Hanley Wood company.

This report delivers timely information on interior architectural door market trends and product relationships; historic data for 2013 and 2014, and forecast data for 2016 through 2018. Forecasts are based on projections of construction activity as of May 2016.

Within the architectural door industry, interior flush door shipments decreased 3% in 2015 to 2.76 million units, while shipments of interior stile and rail doors dropped 15% to 0.17 million units. Interior flush door shipments are expected to decrease further by 11% in 2016 and trend lower thereafter at a rate of 10% in 2017 and 7% in 2018. Stile and rail door shipments are forecasted to decrease 12% in 2016, 7% in 2017, and another 7% in 2018.
