Principal for a Day - M embers of the community got to learn what it is like to be principal of a school.  Abbi Whitaker, Co-Founder and President of the Abbi Agency visited Roger Corbett Elementary and learned how teachers and administrators can influence student learning as "Principal for a Day".  Whitaker said she was impressed with the dedication the school's principal showed to help her students graduate and go to college. KOLO News 8 - Sept. 15, 2016 - Several downtown properties getting needed facelift!  The Whitney Peak Hotel has become known for its dining , concerts, rock climbing, and overall non-gaming atmosphere, but what few people may know is that several properties nearby are also owned by Whitney Peak. They have been boarded up and shut down for some time, but it appears that time will soon be coming to an end.  "We have had them for some time; they've been in the package with Whitney Peak," says GM Eric Olson. "Now that we have finished our phase 3 construction of Whitney Peak, it's time to clean them up and start attracting some new tenants." Here is the broadcast.

If you are in the construction business, join BuildNV.org on October 25, 2016 to help introduce Northern Nevada students to careers in the construction industry and related fields. This one- day event will allow students to see displays & demonstrations, learn about education, training and apprenticeship opportunities, and gain hands-on experience with interactive displays. The goal is to educate youth and the community about professions in the construction trades.
