Saturday Bird Walk - Bird Count
October 10, 2015

October 10, 2015. Sunny and hot. 70-80°F. 0-3 mph. 12 participants.
Our warm fall continued with a very warm October walk this morning. We need a freeze to help those fall colors pop. Regardless, the poison ivy was looking good (see slide show). Drake mallards are still molting out of their eclipse plumage and into their fine green-headed glory.

Brown creepers have a high thin call with a bit of trill in it. Many birders with hearing issues cannot hear their faint and non-directional calls. Along Boulder Creek we met with at least three creepers calling usually loud. It took some time to find them, as is almost always the case. We found three high in the trees. See the slide show for the "Where's Waldo" images of the birds we saw this morning.
