It’s Arts Education Week!

Because of Arts Education, students will be better prepared for the 21st Century innovation economy. AFO’s Architects in Schools program integrates Art, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – the STEAM subjects (among others) – into its 6-week curriculum for 3rd through 5th grade students. Lessons are also being amended to help teachers link their students’ AiS learning to the new Next Generation Science Standards and already connect to Common Core.

And Architects in Schools is in Demand!

Word of mouth from one teacher to another has made the AiS program skyrocket in recent years. Classroom demand for the program is at an all-time high – and just when design professionals are busily serving the healthiest building economy in Oregon’s history!

Architects, engineers, contractors, landscape architects and other design professionals are needed to help these young people see the world around them in new and exciting ways while delivering content rich lessons and having hands-on fun. Participants inevitably come away feeling renewed in their practice and saying that they received more from the experience than the children did!

Please consider finding an hour a week for six weeks next Spring to help deliver this dynamic programming to Oregon students for Oregon’s future.
