State & National Reports
Michigan in Context

Michigan League for Public Policy (September 2016)
MLPP's report on college affordability directly ties together state disinvestment between 2003 and 2012 and rising tuition at state universities. According to the report, Michigan students pay a higher share of universities' college expenses than in any other Midwest state - the sixth-highest share in the nation. Michigan ranks 37 th in the nation for state funding per student and 3 rd for net tuition per student.
Events

A series of three webinars (Sept. 23, Oct. 19, and Nov. 10) offered by the Consortium of Michigan Veterans Educators, a joint project of MASU, the Michigan Community College Association, and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

Session Description: Actively appreciating and valuing diversity on college campuses means understanding the experiences of all types of students, including veterans and military-affiliated students. During these webinars, MVAA's Education Analyst, Dichondra Johnson, will:
  • Offer insights on military culture and typical service-to-school transition issues
  • Identify common health concerns for veterans, including signs of these conditions
  • Provide tangible resources and suggestions for supporting veterans in academic settings
