Welcome Back After a Wonderful Break!
Pictures
Student Picture Retake Day is Tuesday, October 4th
A Lifetouch photographer will be available this Tuesday morning, October 4th, in the commons to take student pictures.  If you would like your student's picture retaken, send the entire original picture package to school with them to give to the photographer.  This is how Lifetouch ensures you get the correct packages printed of the student's retake pictures.

Any students who have not yet had their picture taken this year are also encouraged to come to the commons Tuesday morning.  All students must have a picture taken for the school yearbook and for their ID.  Students should listen for their grade-level to be called over announcements.

You may order your pictures directly on the Lifetouch website and bring the confirmation page for the photographer.  Order forms are also available in the office.  All pictures must be ordered within 48 hours of the picture day.

A note about Student IDs:
Students will be using their IDs throughout the year to check into The HUB.  Also, a student ID with picture is required by most athletic leagues for tournaments, sometimes on cruises and certain travel outside the US, for discounted entry fees and many other purposes.  When your student receives their picture package with the ID, please keep the ID in a safe place.  Should you lose the ID, you may print your child's Campus Portal page with their picture and black-out the Student ID number.  The office will not generate student verification letters for outside activities.

Conferences
Conferences October 13th & 18th
Parent-Teacher conferences will be held Thursday, October 13th, 3-7:30pm and Tuesday, October 18th, 3-7:30pm
Conferences will be held in the gym, arena-style.  These conferences are drop-in format.  Teachers will be arranged in groups and you may visit with as many as your time allows.  W e ask that you attend conferences with your child, if possible.  Please be sure to have your child's schedule and know which teachers to see.  Also check Parent Portal so you know how your child is progressing to have meaningful conversations with the teachers.  Time is limited, so please come prepared and be sensitive to the time of others.  If you feel you will need a more lengthy conference with a teacher, feel free to contact that teacher directly and set up a time to meet.  We're looking forward to seeing you and your child during one of these evenings!

Your 6th grade student received the Deep Portage packet the day prior to the Ryder Cup break.  In the packet are two very important forms that need to be completed, signed and returned by Tuesday, October 4th.  You can access all trip information and forms online at the PRMS Deep Portage website.

Payment for the trip, $120, is due October 21st. If your child participated in fundraising in 5th grade, the reduced amount owed, if any, will be on his/her packet.

Please consider being a part of this amazing experience.  Sufficient chaperones are required to make this trip possible. Go to the PRMS Deep Portage website to learn how to become a much-needed chaperone. Chaperones must attend one meeting on Wednesday November 9th at either 2:30pm or 6:00pm.  Thank you!

Please note:  If your child will need to take prescription medication while at Deep Portage, you must get a doctor's signature on this medical form (also in Spanish).  This does not include EpiPens or other prescription medication taken at school, where the doctor's order has already been provided to the nurse.  All medications, prescription or non-prescription, must sent with your student from home.

HUB
New Learning Space in The Hub!
Historically, the Media Center has been a place for learners to access books, conduct research and get assistance from the librarian. Typically, it was reserved for the entire class to go during a specific class time and for a specific purpose. At Pioneer Ridge, we are transforming the Media Center into a space where individual learners can access a variety of learning spaces and resources that is "right" for his/her learning. This space is called the HUB! It is the HUB because we want this space to be a place that is central to everyone's learning needs and a place to meet the learning needs of every child.  The HUB is open every hour during the school day and kids may sign up using an app called Flex Time Scheduler on any device with internet access. All students will need to gain approval from their teacher and explain how working in the HUB is it best for their learning. Click HERE to read more about the HUB!

PTO
Parent Teacher Organization
At Pioneer Ridge, we want all students to have a great middle school experience while they go through some of the biggest changes in their lives--physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually.  In order to help students through these transitions, we all must work together.  Our parent teacher organization (PTO) is planning for another successful year and will have many opportunities for you to become involved regardless of your schedule.

If you are interested in being involved in PTO, please join our meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 2:45pm in the Office Conference Room.  Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 11th.  If you have specific questions, feel free to call or email Ryan Meulemans, Administrative Dean, at 952-556-7812 or [email protected].
