University of Oklahoma Outreach and KGOU are celebrating Karen Holp's 28 years of leadership and service with a retirement reception on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman. You are invited to this community celebration and Karen would like to thank you personally for your support of the station -- RSVP by Sept. 23 to help us plan for the crowd and leave your memories and well-wishes for Karen, even if you can't attend.

NPR Special Coverage: Presidential Debates
Election 2016 on campaign button
KGOU and NPR News will broadcast live special coverage and analysis of the four presidential and vice-presidential debates in September and October. Each debate is scheduled for 90 minutes without interruption. After the debate, NPR's Robert Siegel and NPR reporters will provide analysis and fact-checking.

Oklahoma Watch-Out State Question Forum Airs Sept. 18
Among the ballot initiatives Oklahoma voters will decide in November is State Question 792 which would revise the laws governing alcoholic beverage sales in the state. In a recent Oklahoma Watch public forum, Executive Editor David Fritze moderated a public forum with guests from opposing sides of the issue. KGOU will air the forum this Sunday, Sept. 18 at noon as an episode of our Sunday Radio Matinee.

A Jazzy Interlude: This Is Cabaret Four-Part Series Airs

KGOU will broadcast a limited-run series, This Is Cabaret, to celebrate intimate performances and emotionally engaging songs from jazz, the blues, Broadway and the Great American Songbook. Guests perform and share personal insights with host Ann Hampton Callaway, live from the stage of the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in the heart of New York City. This four-part series will air Sunday nights at 11 from Sept. 25 through Oct. 16, serving as an intermission in the middle of Backstage Jazz's 2016 season.
