Ironman Sunday News
September 25

We've rolled out the Welcome Banners.

It's race weekend!

Please join us for a fun-filled weekend celebrating Augusta Ironman 70.3.  Saint Paul's Church is next door to the start of the largest Half Ironman in the world.  We are opening our doors and welcoming athletes and spectators from all over the world!
Don't worry if you haven't signed up - t here are lots of ways to be a part of the weekend:
  • The 4th Annual Saint Paul's/TriAugusta Pasta Dinner will be held on   Saturday, September 24th  from   5:30 PM to 8 PM in the River Room.  If you would like to volunteer, please arrive at   5 PM.  We need volunteers to serve food, serve drinks, refill drinks, check on guests at tables, take dishes from tables to kitchen, and set up for hospitality on race morning.  It is a great way to meet new friends from TriAugusta and athletes and spectators visiting Augusta.
  •  On race morning, we will open the River Room at 5 AM and serve complimentary coffee, water, and refreshments to athletes waiting to start the race as well as their family and friend support teams.  Our busiest hours will be between 5 AM and 9:30 to 10 AM.  Please join us in the River Room and help us make our guests feel at home.  You can help serve refreshments, guide them to the restrooms, or if they are looking for a quiet space for prayer or reelection, you can guide them to the sanctuary. We also need volunteers to help make sure bathrooms are stocked with supplies.
  • After the 11 AM service, please join us by the front gates for Lemonade on the Lawn.  The runners will be passing in front of the church and we will have a cheer station out front.  Thanks to the efforts of Keith Shafer and Cobbs Nixon, the church bells will be playing inspirational music for the runners and we will have cowbells for cheering on the runners and posters of encouragement made by the youth out front.  It will be a fun time and a great way to show that Saint Paul's loves Ironman!

It is going to be a great weekend, and we can't wait to see you!

Thanks,
Kim Butler and Terry Johnson

This Sunday is Social Media Sunday

This Sunday, September 25th has been designated Social Media Sunday-the day when Christians everywhere are encouraged to share the good news via social media.

Suggestions include:
  •  Use the hashtag #SMS16 with posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Go even further and add the hashtags #Episcopal, #DioceseofGeorgia, and #SaintPaulsAugusta.
  • Instagram a selfie with the choir or congregation;
  • Tweet the sermon; update your status on Facebook to show that you're at church;
  • Share a photo of your beautiful building and your beautiful friends.

And then, at the end of the day when you check those sites do a search for the hashtags and see how social media connects us and helps us share the good news!

& if you've not done so already, "Like" us on Facebook at Saint Paul's Augusta!
