Sunshine for All Seasons

Clear blue skies, crisp cool days, stormy beaches, and leafy trails.  Fall is the ideal time to visit Sequim, Washington on the Olympic Peninsula.

Sequim sits in a rain shadow created by the Olympic Mountains, and with an average of 16 inches of annual rainfall, it's one of the driest places in Western Washington.  That makes it a perfect destination for a relaxing fall getaway.

Enjoy the Outdoors
With all that clear weather, it's a great time to travel on the Olympic Discovery Trail.  Lace up your sneakers or jump on two wheels and enjoy the non-motorized scenic trail that runs from Port Townsend to the Pacific Coast with the largest paved section running right through Sequim.  Take in the breathtaking backdrop of the Olympic Mountains as you move through scenic farmlands and cross over the Dungeness River at the Railroad Bridge Park, home to the Dungeness River Audubon Center.

You'll see stunning views from the Olympic Discovery Trail.

If you prefer a more rigorous hike, the Olympic National Forest and Buckhorn Wilderness are in Sequim's backyard.  Bring your Discover Pass and begin your journey on one of the wilderness trail heads.  If a walk  along the shore is more to your liking, hike the 5.5 mile beach of the Dungeness Spit, the longest natural sand spit in North America.  You'll be rewarded at the end with a visit to the New Dungeness Lighthouse.  Or, pack a picnic and head out to Marlyn Nelson Park on the shore of Sequim Bay for a quiet stroll.

Hike the upper Dungeness River in the Buckhorn Wilderness.

Golfers love Sequim's sunny skies and enjoy hitting the tees at the Cedars at Dungeness, Skyridge, and Sunland golf courses.  Kayakers and paddle boarders appreciate the calm waters of Sequim Bay, while the more adventurous seafarers may take to the waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
