A Message from Etty Segal
|
The Etz Chaim community holds a very special place in my heart. I have never forgotten the trust that many of the congregants placed in me when they allowed me to educate their children, and I watch with pride and joy as my former Kitah Aleph students marry and become parents themselves. This community has become a part of my extended family.
Rabbi Krupka's strength and support saw me through times of joy and adversity. Rabbi Klibanoff makes me feel so welcome and is always willing to offer guidance and assistance.
With gratitude to Hashem, I am proud and happy to share the celebration of my granddaughter Ester's bat mitzvah with all of you.
Mazal Tov to all!

Message from the Rabbi
Parshat Ki Tavo
|
A few weeks ago in Parshat Re'eh we were told that Hashem has placed in front of us both blessings and curses. In this week's Parsha we read of those blessings and curses.
The Talmud teaches us that we specifically read these series of awful curses soon before Rosh Hashanah so that we can end the year and all of its curses. In other words, we want to get a fresh start on a new year and leave all the old baggage behind. This is a ritual cleansing of sorts.
For many of us, when we approach the introspective period of Elul and the High Holidays, we cannot wait to rid ourselves of the previous year's providence. Things may not have turned out how we had hoped for 5776.
The good news is that 5777 is upon us and we have an opportunity to start fresh and hopefully see a year filled with only the blessings we so desire.
Shabbat Shalom
