Pillows and Books Needed

Our multiage children's class includes a reading corner. Please contribute pillows for the children to sit on and help stock the shelves with books you donate or loan us for the year. Keep us in mind as you clean off your shelves and visit book fairs or tag sales. We are looking for books for 2nd - 7th graders that address our theme of Love and Justice. Our focus is fairness around differences of race, gender, religion and spiritual traditions. Our goal is to nurture growth in five competency areas: 1) empathy and belonging, which focus on creating a safe class culture, cultivating curiosity and inclusion, and being radical welcoming; 2) appreciation for complex identities through learning that we each belong to multiple identity groups and affirming that it is healthy and important to name; 3) respecting differences by recognizing that we are alike and different, and it is important to be fair about our differences; 4) identifying bias and learning to see ways in which people are treated unjustly based on differences; and 5) taking action that promotes justice and fairness.
