PCR saves 19 dogs and two kittens on Saturday!
We saved an incredible number of lives this weekend. A huge thanks is given to all of the many volunteers who helped us bring these animals to safety.
It truly does take a village to pull this off. Most people do not realized that there are so many moving parts. Kudos to our shelter partners, the Florence Area Humane Society and the Lenoir County SPCA, as well as all of the transporters, the many fosters who opened up their hearts and homes to the animals, the Adoption Coordinators who will help place them in their forever homes and all the behind-the-scenes people who help with logistics to make this life-saving
endeavor happen.
You are beyond AWESOME!
BELTWAY BARKS EVENT...  WHAT A HIT!!
A wonderful time was had by all who attended the 4th Annual Beltway Barks event, hosted by the DC Actors group. PCR had 5 dogs representing our organization. These dogs received a great deal of exposure, leading to applications and, hopefully, adoptions. Harry Potter, pictured above, was a hit with the volunteers and potential adopters. He is now in his forever home!

PCR Families Fostering

Have you ever thought about fostering a pet?  There are so many wonderful benefits that extend well beyond a safe, temporarily home for a cat or dog in need. It truly is a great experience for the whole family.  We find that children are very eager and excited to be involved in the process.  Fostering teaches responsible pet ownership, raises awareness of animal welfare issues, and inspires future generations of animal rescuers!  By participating in opportunities that help pets, we are confident that the world will become a more compassionate and loving one for animals in need.

JJ is fond of PCR kitties like Peach (pictured above), who was recently adopted. Gabby loves hanging out with some of our other foster animals like her pal, mama dog, Ruby (pictured below), who has also been adopted.

Dear PetConnect Rescue Friend,

Happy First Day of Fall!

Bringing people together to help save animals is at the core of our mission. We work in conjunction with shelters and other organizations to help save animals in horrible situations.  Some are on death row in desperate, overcrowded shelters. Others are strays on the streets. Countless more are in unsafe living conditions. Saving animals can be extremely emotional work.  I know this because I have frequent contact with our shelter partners. When I tell them that PetConnect Rescue can bring some of their animals into our care, the staff are literally brought to tears. They are both relieved and grateful to us.  They know that their animals will be in excellent hands. We have a solid reputation for doing right by the animals, and together, we have the power to do more.

Currently, we have so many exciting things going on at PetConnect Rescue as well as some new projects in the works. Please take a moment to read below and see how you can help us continue the awesome work performed by our devoted PCR team.

Thank you!

Best Friends' Strut your Mutt!
  Saturday, October 1, 2016
9am to 1pm
Black Hill Regional Park
Germantown, MD

PetConnect Rescue has earned a spot in the Local Shelter & Rescue Information tent! This means that we can select one person to represent our organization in the special Strut Your Mutt tent and share the word about our outstanding work!
Superstar Team Captain, Katie Buckner, will be our Representative!

Every day, more than 9,000 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters, simply because they don't have safe places to call home.  PetConnect Rescue would like to help bring that number to zero.   But, this really is a team effort, and we need you!

Last year, we were able to raise just over $3,800.  We have set this year's goal at $5,000 .  Please show your support by joining our team, becoming a virtual walker, or making a donation to support our team.   You do not need to bring a dog to participate in the walk.   Strut Your Mutt is about saving both  dogs and cats in need!

Check-in and Onsite Registration Opens: 9:00 a.m.
Team Captain: Katie Buckner

Greta Van Susteren:
A True Friend To Animals
Thank you to PCR Ambassador, Greta Van Susteren. Upon leaving her position at Fox News, Greta took it upon herself to turn her followers attention to the good work of PetConnect Rescue by redirecting her website to ours. This was such an unexpected but amazing way to endorse us.
It was featured in The Huffington Post

With this extra exposure on social media,
PCR received over $850 in donations,
picked up  hundreds of new likes on our Facebook page,  upped our Twitter followers, and gained newsletter subscribers as well.
We are looking for additional PCR Ambassadors, who, on November 29, are willing to post on their social media sites why they support PetConnect Rescue. Want to help but not sure you know what to do? No worries, we'll walk you through the process. The more ambassadors that we have, the more money we raise. Interested?

Robyn Buchsbaum at [email protected].
