Curriculum Night- Tomorrow

Families that have students in Grades 1, 3, and 5 are invited to join us on Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 15 to learn more about the upcoming school year.  Teachers will be here to review programming, routines, and answer questions about their cluster.

If you are new to Clover Ridge and have students in grades 2 or 4, please contact the teacher to answer specific questions that you may have.

Picture Day on Friday
Fall Pictures will be held on Friday, September 16th.
Lost and Found

Chilly mornings, warm afternoons characterize our fall weather. It also explains why the most common items in CRE's Lost & Found are lightweight jackets and sweatshirts. When kids do not need them at the end of the day, they are often forgotten.   Though we make an effort to help students reclaim personal items, each year we typically donate over a hundred articles of clothing, in excellent condition, to a local charity. Please take the time now, and as you purchase winter wear, to label anything that your child might remove in PE class, on the playground or in the locker areas, as well as lunchboxes and water bottles. We want to turn the "Lost" into "Found".

Fundraising Opportunity
Please remember that participation in our fundraiser is optional and left to the discretion of the parent. While this is an important fundraiser for our building, it is not mandatory.  If you would rather donate directly to the PTO, checks or cash are accepted and small prizes still awarded.

Cherrydale purchased Chip Shoppe (our previous fundraising company) recently. More information, including product preview, is available at www.cherrydale.com.
Smile @ Amazon
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at www.smile.amazon.com , you'll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as www.Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization. You can choose from nearly one million organizations to support. Learn More
Yearbooks!
We moved to a new company to produce our yearbooks last year and under the guidance of Tara Dorn, they were fabulous! More information will be coming out later in the year, but discounts are available for early orders.

Order your 2016-2017 yearbook by September 30th and save 15%!  For instructions and details, visit the CRE yearbook website:  https://sites.google.com/site/yearbookcre/home
Birthday Treats
As part of a district-wide initiative to discourage the use of food as a reward, teachers and parents are strongly encouraged to recognize and celebrate students by methods that do not involve food. Before sending a birthday treat, please check with your homeroom teacher to see if there are food allergies in your student's classroom. Clover Ridge strongly encourages a nonfood item such as pencils, stickers, and tattoos, or perhaps invite a special visitor to read to the student s and donate a book to the classroom, ask classmates to sign the student's favorite ball, or a craft project are other ways to celebrate your child's birthday in a classroom.

More information can be found in the Student Handbook on page 7.

School Supplies
Several years ago, our district asked that we remove general supplies from each student's supply list.  Unfortunately, this has created a need for additional supplies.  These are supplies that teachers use throughout the year.  Please consider sending some of the following supplies to your child's homeroom teacher: tissues, Clorox Wipes, paper plates, Zip Lock Bags (gallon/quart/sandwich), plastic utensils, and paper towels.  Your participation is completely optional.  Thanks for your consideration and generosity.

Food Service
Here is a link to 112 Nutrition, our Food Service Department, providing information including lunch menus, and links to Educational Assistance Applications (Free and Reduced Lunch).  Paper copies are available in the office.  Families enrolled in this program need to reapply annually.

More information regarding meal prices and programming can be found here.

A healthy start to the school day is available daily from 9:00-9:20.

We're helping students start their day off right with a healthy breakfast, available at all Eastern Carver County Schools before the first bell. Studies have proven that kids who eat breakfast achieve higher test scores, pay more attention in class, go to the nurse less and have better behavior in class. Our nutritious breakfast follows the United States Department of Agriculture meal requirements to meet your student's nutrient needs. Breakfast is FREE to students who qualify for free or reduced price meals and to all Kindergarten students. For other students the cost is $1.60.

Student Directory
We are pleased to announce that this coming year the entire directory process will be paperless from data collection to making the directory available both on your computer as well as your smart phone.
Why are we doing this?
  • Saves time - this new system will help us publish the directory right when school starts AND we can keep it up to date throughout the school year.
  • Saves money - no more printing costs (they keep going up!)
  • Reduces errors - because you enter your information yourself, you can be guaranteed that it's what you want.
How does it work?
Our new system will involve 2 steps:  collecting your information online and then giving you secure access to the online system.  To enter your information please go to the link below and follow the instructions.
Just Log in at:   www.join.myschoolanywhere.com

Enter Code:  CREPTO
How do you access the new online directory?
Once we have received and reviewed your family's information you will receive an email with login instructions.  Our plan is to go live the first week of school so please confirm your data!
What's so great about the online directory?
  • It's secure - your family will have a unique login and password and the directory can't be lost or stolen.
  • You can search by student's first name, grade, teacher and family last name.
  • You can create your own custom list of frequently called families.
  • You can access the family directory from any internet connected device:  your computer, smart phone, iPad, etc.

Is it secure?
YES!  All data is stored behind secure firewalls and can only be accessed by authorized users with a validated username and encrypted password.  All data is viewed and passed using SSL encryption.
