Sacramento Sprint Pentathlon
October 2

The Sacramento Sprint Pentathlon will be held at UC Davis.This ever-popular event includes 50s of all four strokes and a 100m IM, as well as medley relays. Information and Registration.
2016 Pacific Masters SCM Championships
October 7-9
 
My, how time flies! The Pacific Masters SCM Championships are coming up soon. Registration closes September 28. Walnut Creek Masters will be hosting the meet at The Clarke Swim Center in Walnut Creek. This meet offers a fun, relaxed atmosphere with a full plate of events and a great snack bar. Information

USMS Adult Learn-to-Swim Instructor Certification
November 5 
San Jose

The USMS Adult Learn-to-Swim Instructor Certification Program curriculum is based on teaching methods practiced by leading adult learn-to-swim authorities. It incorporates the most innovative and effective training methods and gives certified instructors the tools to teach adults to swim, at a minimum, one length of a 25-yard pool and become safer in the water.

This one-day course, with classroom and in-water instruction, is taught throughout the country by USMS-certified instructor trainers. At the conclusion of the course, successful candidates will receive USMS ALTS instructor certification. Information and Registration. 
USMS Coaches Clinic 
November 11-13

Join us in San Mateo for an exciting learning and networking experience.
This three-day weekend clinic is specifically tailored for Masters coaches and is presented by award-winning coaches. Topics this year include open water, team building, turns, dryland, and, stroke technique. There will also be pool sessions to practice and apply what you learn. Event details and registration,
Pacific Masters Annual Meeting
November 13:   SAVE THE DATE!  What a Deal!  It's FREE!
 
This year's Annual Celebration and Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 13th, at the College of San Mateo.
 
PacMasters offers a workout run by our best coaches, a tech talk by Dr. Rod Havriluk entitled Swimming Science: Technique Misconceptions, a catered lunch, an inspiring talk by 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympian Dana Vollmer, and a short Annual Meeting recognizing those who have given their time and talents to our program and sharing with you all PacMasters has accomplished this year.
 
This day is free to all Pacific Masters members; guests are $25. A schedule will be included in the next Update and registration will open on September 28th. You will receive a special invitation giving you details and the link to registration. Don't miss it! Bring a friend!
Competition Schedule for 2017
Bids for meets are now being accepted. 

Hosts and dates for the Pacific Masters pool championship meets have been selected. The dates are:
 - Short Course Yards April 7-9, 2017 
 - Long Course Meters July 14-16, 2017 
 - Short Course Meters October 13-15, 2017

We are now ready to begin accepting bids for pool and open water event hosts for the remainder of the 2017 calendar.  If your club is interested in scheduling a traditionally held or new event, please use the appropriate link provided below to submit the brief information we need to set the schedule and follow up with each host for their event(s).

Open Water Swimming Results and History

Now you can view you and your team's open water points for 2016 and also for every year back to 2008.  This data can be found on our Open Water Points page in the section titled Historical Accumulated Points.
 
You also can compare yourself to past years by opening this year's individual accumulated results individual accumulated results page.

Click on your name to see how you've earned your 2016 points. Then click on an event to see how you performed in that event in past years. Remember that swim courses and distances can change and distances might vary by dozens of yards or more per year.

Training - Workouts
 
If you happen to be away from your team and are swimming by yourself, the USMS website has a library of workouts. Seven categories of workouts, can be found when clicking on the Training tab.  If you wish to swim an entirely different specialty workout every day of the week, it is possible by selecting from from Basic, Triathlon, High Intensity, Open Water, Stroke and IM, Expectant Mothers and High Volume workouts written by handpicked coaches, specializing in an area of swim for the masters athlete, competitor and fitness buff.  Cheers to USMS workouts, and goodbye to boring, redundant lap sets.
