In order to decrease the amount of emails we send to your inbox, we are going to try to limit the amount of notifications we send out. The weekly newsletter will include all information and communications to the entire school including updates, events, and notices. Please be aware that the newsletter will continue to be emailed every Thursday. We encourage you to add the Akiva calendar to your calendar where all school events are posted. The calendar and newsletters can also be accessed on our website.

Akiva Marketing
Our Marketing team is working on redesigning Akiva Academy's website and we would like your involvement.

The team may approach you for one simple question -
What key words come to mind when you think of Akiva Academy? Please list 3-5 words (i.e. family, fun, inclusion, etc.)

To submit your answer please email
[email protected]. You can also send a text message to Cheryl Wilms (403)860-5717 or Anna Lourie Kostousov (403)619-3877.
Rabbi and Mrs. Sass
Our thoughts and prayers are with our dear friends Rabbi and Mrs. Sass of Menorah Academy at a most difficult time for them. Please daven for Dov Ber bn Shoshana Roiza. Below is an excerpt of a letter from the family.

"  As many of you may have already heard, our precious nephew Dovi is in serious critical condition and remains in a coma after being hit in the head with a baseball Thursday evening. He was playing ball with his father and twin brother in the backyard, when the ball hit his head and he went into cardiac arrest.   Dovi is an adorable 11 year old boy who is always filled with so much energy and is fueled by his love for learning and sports.  Dovi has a second half, his twin brother Moish. They are two peas in a pod and are inseparable in everything that they do.  Moish is lost without his brother by his side and needs our help to bring a nes so that they can go back to enjoying living life to its fullest, together."

UJA Cellathon - September 28
Akiva will be participating in a UJA cellathon on Wednesday, September 28 at the JCC. We are looking for volunteers to help out for even part of the time. It is very important that we show our support and help make phone calls for one of the largest sources of funding for our school. If you can help or can send a friend or relative please let the office know. If every family could send one representative we can make it a very effective evening.
Email Accounts for students in Grade 4-9
Students in Grade 4-9 have been provided an Akiva  email address to use to log in to websites and apps used in the classroom. Apps such as Google  for Education, Quizlet and an online Navi program require an email address. The email address is their first initial and last name @akiva.caThe students have chosen a password but the password can be reset upon request.

Proper digital citizenship has been discussed and will continue to be reinforced in the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns about the email account please feel free to contact Rabbi Greenwald or any of your child's teachers.
