Bishop Hayashi shares his reflections about the fall season and this year's political campaign.

The Diocese Welcomes The Rev. Mark Clevenger

The Rt. Rev. Scott B. Hayashi is pleased to announce that he has invited The Rev. Mark Clevenger to join his staff as half-time Missioner for Congregational Development.  The Rev. Clevenger will assume his new position on October 1st. He is currently serving as Interim Pastor at Grace Church, St. George, until the end of September. Mark will carry forward the good work that began in our diocese with the Church Development Institute (CDI), and he will be available for extensive visitation and consulting work with congregations across our diocese.

The Rev. Clevenger talks to the youth about the birth of Jesus.

The Rev. Clevenger prepares for a service.
Mark came to St. George from the Diocese of Long Island, where he had been rector of St. Anselm's in Shoreham, New York, from 2008 to 2015. Prior to that parish ministry he was Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Upper South Carolina, where congregational development was among his many areas of responsibility.  He has also served as Diocesan Mission Developer in the Diocese of Chicago and Canon Mission Strategist in the Diocese of Minnesota, where he focused on evangelism, stewardship, fundraising, capital campaign development, and congregational growth.  Early in his ordained ministry he began a new church that grew to 400 families in six years.

Mark holds a J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law, an M.Div. with Diploma in Anglican Studies from Yale Divinity School/Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, and a B. A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan. He has engaged in post-graduate programs in congregational mission effectiveness and in Bowen Family Systems Theory implications for congregations.

Mark will be introduced at the clergy conference in October, where he will talk about the scope of his plans to serve the diocese.

Welcome, Mark!

Halee Cram
Diocesan Communications Office hires new assistant

Halee Cram has started part-time work at the diocese in communications specializing in content support and video production. She is a 2015 graduate of the University of Utah in Communications and joins the diocese from her prior position as assignment editor at KTVX, ABC 4 Utah. Communications Director Craig Wirth says Halee will bring added help especially as we prepare for more historic videos highlighting our 150th year and videos showing the amazing outreach of the diocese throughout Utah and northern Arizona. He says Halee excelled in her university video work and built a reputation as a skilled video facilitator during her career at Channel 4. She also offers exceptional skills for assisting the congregations of the diocese.

Halee Cram will become Halee Oliver later this month as she marries Kyle Oliver. The Draper native fills the position vacated by Mitch Sears, who served the diocese primarily in technical areas.

Welcome Halee!

Wirth Lends His Talents to the Utah State Fair

Our very own Craig Wirth was an esteemed judge at the Utah State Fair Cupcake Contest Wednesday night.  Although Craig may not have professional culinary experience, his sophisticated palate was exactly what the contest needed.  He tasted everything - from Banana Strawberry
