AS A REMINDER...

With the number of calendar updates recently, we wanted to remind you...
SCHOOL IS IN SESSION TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 16

Dear Saint Rose Families,

Today Mrs. Kang's kindergarten class had a field trip to the 577 Foundation.  What a wonderful day to take a walk down the street to learn about nature and the world around them.  This trip represents the first of many Saint Rose field trips throughout the year.  We have all sorts of learning adventures planned from the 577 Foundation, to historic Perrysburg, the Art Museum, Washington D.C. and more.  Field trips support the classroom learning and provide real world applications.
Next week grades kindergarten through 8th grade will leave Saint Rose for something far greater than the average field trip.  We will send 350 students on a pilgrimage, a religious journey, to either Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue, or the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.  Our students will enter through the Holy Doors of Mercy as a celebration of the Year of Mercy.  We are all very excited for our pilgrimage.
Our pilgrimage, field trips, student retreats, and so many of the components of Student Formation, are made possible through your support of the Annual Fund.  The Annual Fund supports Student Formation, the Endowment, and the Sponsor-A-Student scholarship program.
Families are already sending in their support.  I am grateful with the number of responses so far.  We have two goals at Saint Rose School.  Goal one is a participation goal.  We ask all school families to participate in the Annual Fund with a prayer and perhaps a monetary contribution.  Our goal is to have at least 50% of our school families participate.  The reward for reaching this goal will be an alternate dress day for our students.  The second goal is a monetary goal.  A generous donor provided a matching gift of $35,000.  We need to secure this amount from our parish and school families in order to receive the gift.  When the  Annual Fund monetary contributions total $35,000, it will secure our gift and students will receive an additional alternate dress day.
The Annual Fund is an important resource for the success of Saint Rose School and the impact that it can have on the education of our children.  I appreciate the many sacrifices that our families make in order to send their children to Saint Rose and for their generous support of the Annual Fund.

Harrison Rally Day
We will meet at 9:30 on Louisiana Avenue right near Sixth Street.  Just look for the the blue shirts.  We will have extra Saint Rose shirts and candy to hand out.  The parade begins at 10 and we end at the church.

School Friday, September 16
Just a reminder that we have school tomorrow, Friday, September 16

Sincerely,

Dr. Bryon Borgelt
Principal

ROOM PARENTS NEEDED!

Your child's classroom is in need of volunteers to sign up as room parents! Room Parent Volunteers are simply parent helpers for each classroom.  You will meet with your child's teacher to coordinate activities, dates and times and assign other parents to help out with snacks, crafts, etc. as the teacher instructs.  We will need 2 parents per classroom and sign up will be on a first come, first serve basis, so please sign up ASAP!  Also, this year we are trying something different: we would like to keep in contact with you to receive feedback about your classroom and to make sure your year is running as smooth as possible.  Thank you in advance for volunteering your time and talents, because without you, these parties would not be possible!

It's that time of year again!  Dads are welcome and encouraged to join their children for a donut, juice/water and coffee before school. We offer this on two days and divide the school alphabetically. However, if you can't make it on your "assigned" day, no problem! Just sign up for the day that works best for you. Also, if dad is unable to attend, grandfathers, step-dads, or uncles are welcome in their absence.
It's important to sign up however, so we can get an accurate donut count.  Thanks!

Cross Country:
Congratulations to Maisy Stevenson who received 3rd place for Junior girls and Ali McCormick who placed 3rd for Minor girls! Matthew Colon had a big race for Minor boys; he ran the entire time and felt great at the end of the race. So proud of you Matthew! Philip Ravas, in the Cadet division, beat his time from last year by 2 minutes...amazing! Great job to all CC Pirates! Looking forward to the next meet at Maumee Bay State Park this weekend!

Volleyball:
Congratulations to our 4th grade girls' volleyball team (pictured)! 2 matches, 6 games total, first time they have ever played together on a team and the Saint Rose Lady Pirates won every game. More importantly, they had great sportsmanship and teamwork!!

5th Grade girls' volleyball team - Coach Nudd, started the year off with a hard fought match against Saint Joe Sylvania! Two close matches but were not able to hold them off in a tie breaker. They came back  to win the second game against Christ the King, 2-0!! Great job girls! Looking forward to this weekend's games!

Soccer:
The 2016 Fall CYO Soccer 7th/8th grade JUNIOR League squad opened season play earlier last Sunday with a 12-0 win over St. Joan of Arc/St. Richard. Andrew Turner led all scorers with a 3-goal "hat trick", while both Chase Monaghan and Charlie Demczuk tallied 2 goals a piece.
