City of Birmingham, MI
Villa Ave. Resident Information on Lawn Restoration
The Contractor is working to complete all of the sidewalk and drive approach replacements, and grading the areas between the sidewalk and the curb in preparation for new topsoil and sod.  They are currently scheduled to place the topsoil and sod in these areas starting on October 3rd.

Before the topsoil and sod is placed, homeowners will have an opportunity to have any damage to their sprinkler systems within the City's right of way repaired prior to the installation of the topsoil and sod in those areas.

Once the sod is installed, the contractor is obligated to keep the new sod watered for fourteen (14) days.  Two (2) weeks after the sod installation, City staff will inspect the project and record areas where the sod has failed.  Failed areas will be repaired by the Contractor.  The responsibility for the care of this grass will then revert back to the property owners and/or tenants.  Should we have some dry weather after the sod is installed, (either late this year or next year) we will need your help.  Please water your new grass as weather conditions dictate, to ensure a healthy lawn for the coming years.  Your care and assistance will help the success of this goal.

Thanks again for your cooperation and patience throughout this project.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Engineering Dept. at (248) 530-1850 or contact our on-site inspector.

The project is 80% complete, see photos below.
