Students in Mrs. Rosado’s Health and Spanish classes are expanding their understanding of each content area through literacy.
In Health class, students are reading Go Ask Alice, a novel that narrates the perils and complexity of addiction and drug abuse from a teenage perspective. In conjunction with the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program, students are engaging in group reflections and developing strategies for living a drug-free life.
In Spanish classes, students prepared and debated each presidential candidate’s immigration platform. They worked in teams to research and articulate their assigned candidate’s views and respectfully challenge the views of the opposing teams.
ECHO: Exploring College & Degrees
In ECHO advisement this week, 8th graders worked with GCSU Advisor Debi Langister. Mrs. Langister helped students understand that certain careers require different types of college degrees. Students familiarized themselves with careers and the expected number of years in college, for each.
The session ended with a game of "Get to Know Me" BINGO. During the game, students circulated the room to find individuals that matched the descriptions on their cards.
It was a great session, and we look forward to our next session on October 11.
