It's not too late!
I'm a banker, so you might think that I'd be a natural on the golf course. Stereotypes, you know. But, in fact, I'm pretty bad at the game. If you're concerned about value, as I am, you might say I get a greater value out of a round of golf than almost anyone else. My cost per stroke is far below average.
A lot of you know that my favorite number is 9. I like to say "It's all about the 9!" Golf gets that. There's the front 9 and the back 9, for example. The typical course has 18 holes (1+8=9).
Why does any of this matter? It doesn't. But, it gives me the chance to mention the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce 41st Annual Golf Outing: The Olympics, which is set for Monday, August 8, 2016, at Royal Fox Country Club. The name of this year's golf outing acknowledges the return of golf to the Olympics after a 112-year absence. Golf only appeared in the 1900 and 1904 Summer Olympic Games, but apparently the TV ratings were so low that they dumped it after that.
The Royal Fox Country Club Golf Course is a strikingly beautiful, but challenging 18-hole, 6,816-yard course. That's 20,448 feet (2+0+4+4+8=18; 1+8=9; It's all about the 9!).
It's not too late! That's how this whole thing started, isn't it? Anyway, it's not too late to register for the St. Charles Chamber Golf Outing! A Word from the President - Stacey Ekstrom

The Chamber Board and Staff participated in a Spring Strategic Planning Session to follow-up on our ideas from last fall. Our three task forces are continuing to make progress. Our educational Marketing Bootcamp started earlier this year will continue in the fall (Marketing was the number one requested area for educational assistance). Our Membership Retention and Membership Value task forces are heading in the right direction, now that they have approval from the Board to move forward. We have some exciting changes coming, and if you would like to be a part of any of these task forces, please let me know.
This last quarter had successful events including the Consumer Expo and Mini-golf Outing. However, we are looking forward to summertime with Cruise Nites and our Annual Golf Outing. Our theme for the Golf Outing is the Olympics, and as with all our committees, they have great ideas to tie in the theme with our event. For more details, please see our flyers in this newsletter. We have ordered beautiful days, so please come join us for viewing classic cars and/or golfing.
Also, we celebrate our members during Chamber Week which is the week of September 12
th. We will host an Open House in which our gracious restaurants will donate food for you to enjoy, and new members can have a booth to promote their products and services. We will also have an educational seminar, Speed Networking, and also a Culinary event. More details will be forth coming.
Lastly, If you are not aware of the Department of Labor changes that will affect almost every business, please attend our event on July 13th. The overtime rule concerns most salaried employees as well, so make sure that you are informed of the major changes.

He touched on elections, government contracts, SBA, wage issues, government credit and budget, uncertainty amongst businesses, unemployment rate in Europe, and why we should be watching what's happening to Puerto Rico. The presentation ended with how lucky we are to be Americans and live in America. He has traveled to many countries and feels that we live in the best country - United States of America!
