If you have expertise in an area specific to park, recreation and therapeutic recreation professionals and a gift with public speaking and presenting experience, please consider applying for one or more of the following tracks:

The National Recreation and Park Association is dedicated to promoting children's right to play in a safe and challenging play environment. It is NRPA's goal to train and certify at least one person from every community across the United States to be a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). The CPSI program offers the most comprehensive and up-to-date training on playground safety as well as provides certification for playground safety inspectors.

There is no cost to register for the Conference, and hotel rooms are complimentary for attendees traveling from the Region who need accommodations.  Registration will begin this fall on the Eastern website.
 
NYSRPS Board News
NYSRPS Financial Update:

The 2015-2016 annual audit was performed in July of 2016 by Stark & Basila Certified Public Accountants, P.C. NYSRPS Treasurer Nathan Nagle presented findings to the NYSRPS Board at the August 18th meeting.  While NYSRPS ended the fiscal year at a deficit ($3, 058), significant gains were experienced greatly reducing the deficits experienced the past two years ($38,504) in 2014 and (39,611) in 2013.

I am very pleased in the progress NYSRPS has made in a relatively short period of time and feel confident with the Board we will be able to lead the Society in a very positive financial direction for 2016-2017.
I would like to thank our membership who make NYSRPS possible and all who volunteer time to serve on committees and the Board to provide our people with the absolute best professional organization for park, recreation and therapeutic recreation professionals in NY State. -Lisa Morahan, NYSRPS Executive Director

Board Positions Currently Open!
The NYSRPS Executive Board is a group of distinguished individuals from a varied background of park, recreation and therapeutic professions, as well as commercial enterprises that serve park and recreational needs. This dedicated group oversees the interests of NYSRPS and works to protect and advance the interests of its constituents. We are currently seeking professionals who would like to serve NYSRPS.

Current seats are open for the following Board positions:
Region 1 Representative: 2 seats
Region 2: 1 seat
Region 3: 1 seat

Region 1- Hudson Valley, Long Island, Metro, and Westchester
Region 2- Central NY, Capital Region, Adirondack-Lake Champlain
Region 3- Genesee Valley & Niagara Frontier

If you would like to become involved and help steer the direction of NYSRPS, consider serving on the Board. It is a cohesive group of dedicated volunteers who have a passion to lead the Society and ensure it is the absolute best professional membership organization for park, recreation and therapeutic recreation professionals. FINAL REMINDER~
GVRPS Golf Tournament to be held at Durand Eastman Golf Course on Friday September 9th.
 
Genesee Valley Recreation and Park Society hosts this annual golf tournament in remembrance of Glenn Boetcher, who loved the game of golf and was a prominent professional within the field. The golf tournament also assists in fundraising efforts towards a college scholarship to be awarded to a student who is studying in the field of parks and recreation.

CNYRPS will be hosting our 3rd annual wine tour this fall & will also include breweries this year. Save the date of Sunday, October 16th. More details to be announced soon.
