Members'
Corner
Richard Montenegro,
local concierge and artist was asked about his cooperation with the SFCA for the new map
What is your experience as a concierge?
RM: I've worked at the Mondrian as Chief Concierge for a year and a nine months, as Chief Concierge at the National and at the Sagamore all since 2010. Hospitality in general since 2004
Do you have any other jobs? Can you tell me about them?
RM: Yes, I'm an artist. It started as a hobby drawing and painting. As time passed I acquired the talent of graffiti and began to do doing murals. Eventually, I started making money off of it. A few years ago, when Wynwood became popular, people began to finally view and appreciate graffiti as an art. Wynwood's rise created an opportunity to start making some great money, not only for art but for street art as well. I rarely do commission work.
I prefer to paint what I like and if you like it, you can purchase it. If not my collections grows for future showings and the next interested buyer.
My art is also sold for charity events, such as the silent auction for Jesse James who had Leukemia. My artwork has been used to raise money for PTSD and Suicide Awareness along side other many talented local artists, too.
We have an awesome community of artists here in Miami.
If someone wanted to see your work today, where could they go?
RM:
I collaborated with other artists on the outside garden space at Treehouse. You can also find my most recent mural at Radio Bar. I came across both of these projects just by word of mouth.
Can you tell me about the artwork you did for the SFCA map?
RM: I was so excited for this project when I found out about it. Another Concierge actually recommended me, and so that was how it happened. I always wanted to rock that map. My work on the map is vibrant, like Miami. I was thinking Miami Vice when I chose the color scheme. Miami is full of sunshine. Then I threw my character all over it. Lé Creep (his trademark character) has many emotions in this work. Miami is a melting pot, the faces represents all of these different vibes of people in Miami. I knocked off the Vegas sign, like, sorry I took your sign, but Miami is booming! It's the place everyone dreams to visit.
Do you have any upcoming projects?
RM: Now I'm mostly working on small collections to hang up and put in venues around town. I have apparel that you can purchase online on my website along with my other work, www.iamorgieart.com. My T-shirt designs sell fast!
You can follow Lé Creep's adventures through his Instagram:

FEATURED RESTAURANTS
This is not your average bakery, but when pastry chef extraordinaire Antonio Bachour is creating the goods, you know it won't be. For his namesake bistro and bakery, Bachour has teamed up with Henry Hané to create a menu that exhibits his signature, jaw-dropping sweets, but also serves up savory dishes like truffle-filled breakfast sandwiches, black grouper corn bisque, smoked salmon tartines.
Glass and Vine
Helmed by Eating House's chef Giorgio Rapicavoli, Glass & Vine is a 200-seat, garden-inspired spot in the old Coconut Grove Library space right in the middle of Peacock Park. The menu is divided into three different sections - Garden, Sea and Land - filled with plenty of local produce and Rapicavoli's signature creativity.
Plant Food + Wine
Miami's first high-end vegan eatery comes from chef and restaurateur Matthew Kenney, who is best known for his vegan and raw creations. Expect plenty of vegan-ized versions of classic restaurant eats such as a "flora" cheeseboard, zucchini lasagna, banana leaf tamales and coconut "ceviche" tacos.

4) Kaziranga Camp Rhino Encounter
Powerful, large and in charge, the rhinos at Zoo Miami are often a favorite for many visitors. Their massive bodies, covered with an armor-like exterior, make them seem quite intimidating and maybe even frightening. That is, until you get to know them. At the Kaziranga Camp Rhino Encounter, visitors have the opportunity to meet Suru, our Indian Rhinos.
5) Private Airboat Rides
O
ur 1 hour private tour takes you further into the open sawgrass prairies to a little island only accessible by airboat. On the island, you will see an old cabin used as a camp by the Glades
men
. On our return trip we will bring you through the Coopertown trail were we will look for Bird, Alligators, Turtles and other flora and fauna we might find along the way.

COOL APPS & TECH
Companion
iOS/Android
It works like this: Enter your destination address and select a few friends or family members to be your "companions." Whether or not they have the app installed, they get sent a map of your progress. If you don't make it to your destination, if your phone falls to the ground, if your headphones get yanked out, or if you start running, the app will check on you - and if you don't reply in 15 seconds, it notifies your companions that something's amiss. You can also dial 911 in about two taps in the app - slightly quicker than if you dialed the number yourself.
Geronimo
Email is a perpetual pain in the ass, but it doesn't have to be so bad. Geronimo (free on iOS) reimagines the way your inbox is organized and how you navigate it, making email management almost fun. Instead of a long, chronological list, emails are organized by day in a swipeable timeline.
Hitlist
One of the best things about being an adult: Being able to take a vacation whenever you want (well, as long as you already met that big project deadline). If you are thinking of venturing on a vacay after the summer heat has died down, check out Hitlist (free on iOS). You tell the app where you're thinking of going: a breezy tropical beach or a trip to Europe on a budget. Then, it starts scanning fares to find you the best deals - and the best time to purchase those deals based on historic pricing patterns.
