Labor 411 Impresses at the DNC

Dear Ethical Consumer,

The Labor 411 Foundation conducted its first major outreach campaign on a national stage with hundreds of thousands of friends and millions more watching on TV and social media. We were thrilled to be part of such an historical occasion at the Democratic National Convention!

Over the course of four amazing days, I talked to union leaders, union workers, elected officials, nonprofit leaders, faith leaders and delegates about our BuyBlue campaign and the Ethical Consumer Movement. We fit right in. Convention goers were excited about being there and appreciated the significance of the first woman nominee for POTUS. One delegate from Idaho remarked, “Can you believe how nice everybody is?” It’s true! Fifty thousand people all in once place, together for four days - everybody was joyous and friendly.

Our new friends and supporters were excited to learn about the power of consumers to promote good American jobs and strengthen the middle class through responsible spending. You can learn more about our campaign by reading this excellent article on The Street.

At our booth in the exhibition hall, the Labor 411 team distributed thousands of Labor 411 Philadelphia Entertainment Guides and BuyBlue buttons. Convention-goers got a big kick out of getting their pictures taken at our booth with a life size cut out of President Obama.

Labor 411 attended two sessions of the first ever Labor Caucus where we heard New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, AFT President Randi Weingarten, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and legendary labor leader Dolores Huerta speak in support of unions and the middle class.

And, of course, we were present to witness history unfolding. Speakers First Lady Michelle Obama, Senator Cory Booker, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Al Franken, Former President Bill Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama all took to the stage before Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. Wow.

Mission accomplished! Not only did we make it to the DNC, Labor411 met hundreds of potential new soldiers for the cause, The Ethical Consumer Movement. Thank you to everyone who donated to our first online fundraising campaign, helping Labor 411 be part of history!

Give to our Ethical Consumer Movement Tool Kit Campaign

The Labor 411 Foundation is building an Ethical Consumer Movement to empower consumers to use their spending power to reward ethical businesses.  We are developing a tool kit to distribute to the community organizers we met at the DNC to help them start mobilizing in their own communities. Donate to our campaign!
