Welcome to the LWHS Community
From Your PTSA!
Welcome - and welcome back - to the "Kangdom," an affectionate term for the community that gathers at LWHS on school days, but extends to sports arenas, club events, student performances and each of our homes outside of school hours! The LWHS PTSA is here to help connect and support parents, teachers, and students as we work together to build the Kangdom into an excellent educational experience for all of our students.

Thank you for receiving and reading the Kang Crier - we hope this is a timely and reliable source of information for everything happening at LW for your family. Please let us know if there's something happening that you think our LWHS PTSA community should know about! Our website is another great resource for staying informed about everything that's happening in the Kangdom...check it out regularly!

Our PTSA Membership Meetings are held every other month on a Wednesday evening at 7pm in the library. The first meeting is Wednesday, September 28 at 7pm. These meetings are a great source of information about what's going on at school, and a time to meet and connect with other parents. Principal Christina Thomas always updates us on what is new at school and is happy to answer questions. Most meetings also include a parent education topic. Everybody is welcome and encouraged to attend - you do not need to be a PTSA member (membership is required only to vote). We also have a daytime opportunity to connect with parents and engage in Q&A with the Principal at regular "Coffee with Christina" events. Check our calendar for dates and times!

High school is an important time for parents to be involved in their student's education, and PTSA can help facilitate that involvement! Be involved by sharing your influence - join the LWHS PTSA and join your influence with that of 400+ other parents. Be involved by sharing your interest - read the Kang Crier and the website to know what's happening in the Kangdom. Be involved by investing in the programs and efforts happening at LW - invest financially, invest your time, invest your talents!
I look forward to seeing you soon!

Please join LWHS PTSA
Supporting students every day
Parents and staff, we would love for you to join the Lake Washington High School PTSA.  Your student benefits from a strong PTSA and becoming a member is the simplest way to participate. When you join the high school PTSA not only do you demonstrate support for student enrichment, you also become part of the largest child advocacy organization in the state. In addition, you gain access to the online student/parent directory (password protected) and receive discounts to Wild Waves, FedEx Office, Great Wolf Lodge, and much more. Even if this is the only PTSA activity you participate in all year, it's greatly appreciated! Thank you for your support.

Join online or  fill out the form in the first day packet and drop it off in the PTSA box in the school office. Membership is $15 for an individual or $25 for two adults (a family membership).

Attention teachers - have you joined LWHS PTSA?
THANK YOU so much to the 46 staff members who have already joined the PTSA. We value your membership greatly and it demonstrates the strong support between parents and staff at Lake Washington High School. For those of you who committed to join but haven't yet had the chance, please just click here to join online (or pick up a membership form in the office). We welcome all teachers, staff and administrators. Thank you for supporting our students every day!

NEW! LWHS Parent Pledge program

In conjunction with The National PTA Alcohol and Drug Free Resolution and the Washington State PTA, the LWHS PTSA is introducing the Parent Pledge program to achieve the following goals:
  • To build a communication network to reduce the use of alcohol and other drugs among teens in our school and community.
  • To host only Alcohol-Free, Tobacco-Free and Drug-Free parties for teens.
  • To not allow teens to possess or consume alcohol, tobacco or other drugs at their homes.
  • To discourage their teens from attending unsupervised parties.
By signing this Parent Pledge, you are letting other LWHS PTSA families know that you intend to supervise your child's social gatherings in your home to ensure that they are alcohol, tobacco and drug free. It also indicates that you may be contacted by other parents about parties and get-togethers. This pledge sends a clear message that as parents/guardians, and as a community, we believe underage drinking tobacco and drug use is unacceptable. Please note that if a family is not listed in the directory, it does not necessarily mean they do not support the pledge. Only PTSA Members can access the online parent directory.

You have the option to sign the pledge when you become a LWHS PTSA member  or you can print out the pledge form and turn it in to the office. Questions? Email  lwhsptsaVPProg@gmail.com.
