General Summary:  The Youth Director primarily acts as the liaison between Dumas Wesley Community Center and the neighborhood youth.

Primary Job Functions:
The Youth Director/Neighborhood Liaison is primarily assigned to provide direct on-going contact with the Crichton neighborhood's low-income children. Must be mindful of needs and linkage with comprehensive social services available at Dumas Wesley Community Center and/or within the community. 
Specific tasks include:
  • Recruitment and enrollment of children, youth, adults and senior citizens into the Center's various programs
  • Recruiting and encouraging neighborhood residents to join and actively participate in community advocacy groups and sports leagues
  • Lead and/or host at least two sports leagues each year  Host resource and/or community fairs for neighborhood residents, annually
  • Leading and coordinating sports leagues, tutoring and computer lab activities for youth
  • Serving as a liaison between law enforcement, city governmental agencies, and social service agencies and neighborhood residents, and scheduling and coordinating regular community meetings held throughout the community and at the Center
  • Recruiting and supervising youth participating in Summer Rec programs and activities  Demonstrating leadership and the ability to build effective community partnerships, including monthly attendance at CAG meetings.
  • Keep accurate records of client contacts, attendance and other statistics as required.  Data reporting to Executive Director for all grants which fund program
  • Work with the Executive Director to set measurable goals and outcomes for program
Other Job Functions:
  • Assists the Executive Director and Board of Directors with coordinating special events, including but not limited to, Toy Store, Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Dinner and other events as scheduled.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of facility for activities which serve neighborhood residents. Other job responsibilities as requested by the Executive Director.

Hydroblaster Technician   - Job order # 2038379 

Job Description:
Hydroblaster Technicians perform routine and frequent manual and heavy labor tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to: moving hoses, loading and unloading materials, hydroblasting, chemical cleaning, vacuum truck operating, tank cleaning and miscellaneous general clean up.
Wage Rate: $14.00 to $17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Work Schedule: Usually a day shift position, starting at 6:00 AM. to finish. Due to the nature of environmental remediation the emergency work, may need to be performed until finished, and requires availability to work any day of the week including weekends. Also requires availability to work day, evening, nights and rotating on-call weekend availability. (Emergency response.)
 
Job Duties:
  • Operate extremely high pressured water blast equipment to clean heavy industrial equipment (pipe, boilers, tanks, heat exchangers, bundles, etc.)
  • Load hoses, chemicals and other equipment required for assigned job onto truck.
  • Hook up and break down hoses using hand/proper tools.
  • Assist in the operation of equipment or power tools.
  • Clean up work area and equipment after work is completed.
  • Assist in the inspection of equipment, hoses, connections, pumps and general work area
  • Read work orders and collect all basic equipment to perform tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • Requires 2 years' experience as a Hydroblaster Technician.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and hot, cold, or wet environments.
  • Ability to perform work in enclosed (confined) space, under close supervision.
    • Physically capable of standing, shoveling and performing other types of physical work for long periods of time.
    • Ability to perform work holding and using high pressure water shotguns (20,000-40,000 psi).
    • Ability to safely handle up to a 6 inch vacuum hose (with up to 6,500 cubic feet of air moving thru the hose per minute, traveling at speeds of up to 160 MPH).
  • Ability to carry industrial hoses (up to 50 lbs) up and down flights of stairs.
  • Medically and physically capable of wearing respirator while performing the above listed work.
  • Requires a valid, current Driver's License, background check, and drug screen.
  • Requires starting work at 6:00 AM to finish with overtime mandatory if needed.
  • Requires availability to work any day of the week including weekends. Also requires availability to work day, evening, nights and rotating on-call weekend availability. (Emergency response.)
