Until domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking are eliminated in Placer County, we need help to ensure that victims have a safe place to escape their violent environments.

When you support Stand Up Placer, you are providing a safe space, therapy, life skills, legal advocacy, peace of mind and a lifeline for a brighter and safer future.

A few days ago in Orlando Florida another heinous act of violence rocked our world.
Our thoughts and prayers  are with the lost, the injured, and their families and loved ones.

Here at Stand Up Placer we consider ourselves so fortunate to be able to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking and realize we are confronted all the time by the knowledge that there are some we cannot help.
During the last few weeks representatives from Stand Up Placer have been out and about in the community raising awareness, sharing information and supporting those who need help.
We were recently invited to participate in Auburn Cruise Nite - Downtown Auburn - you can find us there on the 2nd Friday of every month from May through September.

Red Nose Day is a nationwide event in support of children's needs. The Stand Up Placer Board of Directors took a moment on May 25th to show their support by posing with red noses on.

On June 1, Stand Up Placer had a booth at the inaugural Auburn Business Expo Event in Recreational Park. (Sorry - no pics)

On June 4, a team from Stand Up Placer marched in the Sacramento Pride Parade and then participated in the Pride Festival to bring knowledge and awareness of the agency to the local LGBTQ community.

Thanks to all who visited us, asked questions and took information home to share.
On Tuesday June 21st from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm  there is an Elder Abuse Awareness Fair at the Auburn Garden Theater, 350 Nevada St. Auburn.

Learn how to spot physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse. Learn the warning signs of abuse and neglect. Many agencies will be in attendance.

Our Roseville service office at 775 Sunrise will be hosting several events. Call 916.773.7273 to RSVP.
Sexual Assault Art Therapy "Healing Through Art" separate groups for teens and adults - no cost to survivors - Wednesday nights.
Self Defense Training - last Friday of the month, 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

Save the Date!
Our 6th Annual Stand Up & Run/Fun Walk 5K/10K event will be on October 1, 2016 in Roseville.
We are in the midst of finalizing details - more information will be available very soon.

As one of ten agencies in California designated as Human Trafficking service providers, we can now ensure that survivors of sex trafficking in Placer County have dedicated resources to assist them in their time of need.

Next month we plan on opening our human trafficking drop-in center in Roseville.   While we are excited about this new service we are scrambling to find donations to furnish the center.  Call us if you can help.  Check out the link to our wish list later in this newsletter.

If you are interested in scheduling a presentation or training on human trafficking for your organization please contact us at 916-773-7273.

Spotlight on Sexual Assault
We are currently in need of volunteers for our Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).  For information on joining the SART program contact our volunteer coordinator here.
Stand-Up Employees and Volunteers  SOE
Ashley Laursen joined Stand Up Placer in March of 2016 as our Outreach and Services Coordinator. She quickly showed a strong dedication to our team, an impressive work ethic and most importantly, an ability to connect with our clients and provide services at the highest level. In addition to supervising our Sexual Assault Response Team program, Ashley coordinates our sexual assault outreach efforts, providing presentations and training to various organizations. She also provides all follow-ups to our sexual assault clients, supporting them emotionally, advocating when necessary, connecting them with our other services, and referring them to other community agencies when appropriate.

Congratulations Ashley - you are doing a "Stand-Up" job!
Volunteer Updates  VU
Stand Up Placer is able to provide many of its services through the support of community members who generously give their time to volunteer.

If you have signed up as a volunteer with us in the past we will be sending a short survey (via Survey Monkey) in the next week to share our appreciation and to gauge your interest in some new ideas we are considering. We encourage you all to please respond to the survey. we promise to analyze, compile and communicate your thoughts. Thank you in anticipation.

If you are looking for an opportunity to volunteer, Stand Up Placer is the place for you.  No matter where your talents, abilities, and interests lie, we can help you find a rewarding and meaningful experience assisting the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

We are currently looking for volunteers to teach classes.. such as life skills, recreational (something fun) groups, empowerment groups, leadership skills, reading, cooking, yoga, safe sex, tutoring, arts and crafts, health and wellness, education and employment (resume workshop). Really, any class or group that will empower survivors.

If you are in need of community service hours then we can help.

Whether you have a lot of time to give or just a little, we need your help and support.  We simply can't do it without you.
