CASI - Carson Animal Services Initiative
~ CASI Chronicles ~

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.
~Brian Littrell

When the old animal shelter was built in the early 60's, Carson City had 7,500 residents and the role of the dog pound was quite different.  As the  city grew up around the little building, sheltering  needs changed but resources didn't.   Sadly, many animals suffered.
There'd been talk for a long time about the necessity to build something new, yet no  serious plan existed because animal shelters are expensive
and many said there just wasn't the money for this kind of project.
In spite of that, a deep desire to help our shelter animals inspired some to try.   In 2011, a small group of people formed CASI.  The mission was written, the 501(c)3  status obtained, and a committed organization was born.  This journey has been exhausting, exhilarating, and inspiring.

Throughout the process, the objective of building and equipping a new animal shelter has remained at the forefront of all of our efforts.

Our new shelter is designed to be inviting.  It is able to accommodate important services such as medical treatment (including spay and neuter) for the homeless animals in the shelter's care, community outreach, and is a place where people will want to visit.   Afterall, when more people visit shelters, more animals get adopted.

Thank you for being a part of this wonderful accomplishment!

A Celebration is in Order!!
Thank you to everyone who voted for CASI.
We are sure in great company!!

Our work continues...
CASI's current big project is designing and equipping a dog play area at the new shelter. You can see this spot needs some help!
And we could use your help!  Do you know any construction people or equipment rental places who might want to donate the use of a blade to level the ground and a front loader tractor, or bobcat, to spread DG?  If so, we'd love to hear from you!
CASI is a 501(c)3.  Donations such as this are tax deductible and very appreciated!
~
Stay tuned and watch for an amazing transformation!

~ Operation Small and Mighty! ~
Henry

Dominick

Hey everyone!  Here's Dominick and Henry...two Chihuahua mixes (no relation to each other, we just thought we'd feature them both) with very similar personalities. Both can be picky on who they like, which seems reasonable!  Just like many of us, they want to choose who their human will be.  If either of these handsome boys pull your heartstrings, we invite you to introduce yourself!
Hint ~ They love treats and can be bribed!
Henry is about 3 years old and is a PUPS graduate.
Dominick is about 1 year old.
Both Dominick and Henry do well with other pets but tend to want to be the boss.  Surprisingly, they do great with each other even though they both have very strong personalities.  They didn't come in together though so don't worry if you are only looking for one little tough guy.  That said, imagine how fun two would be!
These boys would love to have a place to call home!

You can find Henry, Dominick and many other beautiful animals at
The Nevada Humane Society, Carson City.
