Dear Vine Hill Families,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year. It has been an exciting start to the year. I hope you all enjoyed Back to School Night and had an opportunity to learn more about all our wonderful programs. I want to give a special welcome to our 30 new students in 1st through 5th grade and a shout out to all our new TK and Kindergarten students and their families!
Thank you for your patience as we have been implementing some new processes and procedures this year. I know that in the long run, we will all be pleased with the outcomes.
Our district has adopted a new Math program. It is called Investigations 3 and is published by Pearson. I am impressed with the program's ability to incorporate Common Core higher level thinking skills into the program while still keeping the strong traditional components of skill development that are so important. All our classroom teachers are implementing Lucy Caulkins Reader's and Writer's Workshop.
I'm so excited to begin my third year as the Principal at Vine Hill. It is a pleasure to now know so many of our students and their families by name. I continue to enjoy the positive energy that comes from our smiling children. Additionally I am so thankful that so many of you want to be involved in our school community. Your contributions and partnership are a key component to the success of our school.
Julie Ebert / Principal

Vine Hill has PTA Fever!
In just two short weeks, our generous community has come together to donate an incredible amount of money to support our children's future.
The Direct Donation Drive will continue to run until September 30th and we aim to raise $70,000 through this membership event. If you have not already, be sure to become a member of The Bear Society and help to ensure that all our children will continue to benefit from their favorite programs: Art, Music, Physical Movement, Computer Lab, Life Lab and
so much more. We are working hard to raise the
$425 that each child needs
to preserve Vine Hill's incredible programs, people and supplies.
If you have lost your Direct
Donation envelope, you may pick up another at the main office. All donations, large and small make a lasting difference!

Classroom News!
Transitional Kinder and Kindergarten:I'm excited to announce that the TK and Kindergarten classes are going to the Rodoni Farms Pumpkin Patch this October! The cost is $5 per student. The children will learn about pumpkins, go in a corn maze and take home a pumpkin. All TK and Kindergartners will be Early Cubs/Bears on their field trip day. More information will be going home soon. We will need drivers so please get your field trip information updated and turned in as soon as you can.
Fifth Grade:
We've conquered the first five days of the BEST year (and their last) at Vine Hill! The three classrooms are working to establish a classroom culture that is safe and effective for all to learn best. We (5th grade teachers) are meeting on a regular basis planning and prepping for experiences that will create memories and build knowledge. Join us as we guide your child to live and believe that, "the key to success in 5th grade is ORGANIZATION"

Supporting Vine Hill School through your regular shopping is the easiest way to support our children !
We are all shopping and dining out anyway, so why not earn money for our school at the same time? To find out how you, and your family members can join one or ALL of the loyalty programs that give back to our school, please go to http://www.vinehillpta.org/#!escrip/c1zhg.
It only takes a few minutes to set up and start earning for our school.
If you have any questions about how to sign up or designate Vine Hill PTA as where to apply your donation, please contact
Andrea Spielvogel at [email protected] or Heidi Denger at [email protected].
Let's not leave free money on the table. Join us in doing these small things that make a BIG difference for our kids and their school.

Life Lab opens September 12th!
The garden sure has grown since students last left it. Tomatoes a plenty and pumpkins galore! We will be kicking off Life Lab by brushing over the safety rules, taking care of the garden grounds and making and tasting fresh salsa using ingredients from our garden!
